PFL 2018 season to start Thursday June 7th

This is pretty cool and I think it was a good choice to go for thursdays until football season starts. I look forward to what they can come up with and consecutive mma on weekdays.

Looks like they are staying with NBC sports

Rosters have not been released
From the promotional package on the website, some of the fighters are:
Andre Harrison (C)
Jake Shields
Brian Foster
Blagoi Ivanov (C)
Luiz Firmino
Rex Harris
Lance Palmer
Mike Kyle
Jon Fitch (C)
Josh Copeland

I do like the logo as well. The original PFL logo was far too bland for me. As a fan of the original Bellator tournaments, I'm very excited for this.

I agree!!! Good move, Also Fridays and Saturdays their ratings suffer because of the ufc, Bellator and boxing.

I’m looking forward to their roster additions. 72 fighters in the gp plus the super fights they’ll have with kyla Harrison and fighters like Timur valiev who is a 135 but they will not have a 135 gp. 6 weight classes from FW to HW

The first event is scheduled for June 7 and runs consecutive Thursday nights. NBCSN will televise the main card in the U.S. (NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app will also stream them) following prelims on Facebook. The events are available outside of the U.S. on Facebook.

The postseason takes place in October on consecutive Saturday nights. Champs will be crowned during a Dec. 31 season finale.

Seasons and tournaments? Sounds like Bjorn's Bellator. I'm in.

Didnt Kayla Harrison sign with the UFC?

PFL should try sending some fighters to RIZIN this year. Now that the Bellator/RIZIN relationship is pretty much finished, PFL can swoop in and fill that void. There's wasn't nearly as much interest in 2017's NYE event without the Bellator fighters.

Mirko Cro Cop vs Blagoi Ivanov is a fight I would fuck up my sleeping schedule for.

I'm fine with no BW GP. 135/145 were relatively thin back in the WSOF days. Besides Marlon Moraes, that division didn't put up much fun fights either. The higher weight classes need more beefing up, especially Heavyweight and Light-Heavyweight. There isn't really a lot of free agents available, they will need to create stars and wait for UFC/Bellator names to pop up in the meantime.

Bellator's tournaments turned unknowns into stars. I'm hoping PFL can do the same.

It makes sense to send some of the guys to Rizin. Probably not the bigger stars because they are going to be fighting in the finals of their own season Dec.31st rumored to be in NY.

Yep I agree 135 not a deep division for them

Bellator sent King Mo, Brennan Ward, Kato (sent for Rizin FF 1), James Thompson and AJ Matthews in 2015/2016 (only Kato and Mo in 2016). I would say McCall is a bigger name than Ward, Thompson, Kato and Matthews just based on social media outreach and fighting in UFC main events. Also he was on the Rogan podcast a few times. Horiguchi is also a bigger name than Ward, Thompson, Kato and Matthews.

Bellator really didn't send big names outside of King Mo.

Put Buscape to work I wanna see him become a millionaire the dude is a bad ass

Season?

Did Bjorn take over or something?

I do like the idea of Thurs mma. This isnt for the media/fans who seemingly bitch about every card and how there is too much etc. This is for hardcore fans so having a show each Thurs is cool.

Just dont know how well this is gonna do. One one hand they shed the high contract fighters they had but then they are doing million dollar tournaments and stuff. Gonna be really hard to sell tickets for Thurs, probably not gonna do good ratings again on NBC Sports.

Just dont know if this is gonna be successful. I'll be watching though.

I don't get how this company stays alive, must be some serious money laundering through it

not excited about this yet. Maybe closer to the start date I will care, but not right now.
