He threw Movlid to the ground...he could have simply not followed him there. Couple times Kudo had complete freedom to disengage in the opening half but continued to grapple and paid a big price for it. Maybe he felt he could hang though.

Most fighters don't have good IQ. It's what separates a lot of guys.
