It was a win win for him IMO. Either you win and holy fuck you're the champion again, or you lose and the UFC will be in your debt and you'll probably get a main event against an easy opponent

Yup, he fucked up badly. If the fight goes south he could've tried something crazy striking wise or taken the easy way out and given his neck. No one would've bashed him, people would probably focus on Khabib instead.

pettis showed up to fight his contracted opponent and made weight. If they want to feed him to a monster and ask him to lose more weight, show him the money. This is all alleged because the UFC is always sketchy with pay but what I've seen is he was making 125/125 for Chiesa, asked for 200/200 and was told the offer was 50/50 to fight for the title against Khabib
