Media Petrosyan - it was a lucky punch

Y'all need to stop shitting on the man. Getting koed in that manner to a one eyed man would drive anybody into a deep depression. Incoherent speech and thoughts are common side effects.

Tryna fuck w the Ginger Cyclops....ya fuckin with ya life!

it's crazy how fragile the ego of so many fighters are. martial arts is supposed to give you self-confidence.

that's one thing i always disliked about mma culture, the lack of class starting from the "tap out" days. im not into the whole zen, spiritual stuff of martial arts or anything, but there are so many fighters that make me go "this guy is a martial artist...?"
Well you gotta consider how many guys were bullied or had other insecurities and turned to fighting to feel tough.

Then they probably start feeling like superman once they realize they actually have a knack for it. Only to be brought back down to earth when they lose.

I've done various types of competitive gaming and people lose it to the point I fear for their families safety after games sometimes lmao. A lot of people don't do well with losing I imagine it's worse when it was a public ass beating.

I was at a fishing tournament a couple weeks ago. Second and Third place guys were scrapping over 1st place loser.

Shouldn't he have said "lucky punches" ?

He should have prepared himself ahead of time for the fate that was to befall him.
4 Star response. <Moves>

Mom's gonna be doing drywall in the morning at his house.
And then he told me I didn't beat him, he beat himself. Like yeah bro I got the feeling there's a lot of that going on at home 🤣

lol

He's a fighter, he is of course gonna feel like he could have continued if given the chance. Plus it's pretty humiliating to end up as a highlight reel that is going to be shown over and over forever.

So the guy is just trying to save face.

His REAL MISTAKE, was getting in there with the Pirate in the first place. He should have prepared himself ahead of time for the fate that was to befall him.
I don't think you need to explain his motive for saying it. Everyone here saw him get knocked out. We know why he is crying about it.

Doesn't really dismiss that it looks weak and poor sportsmanship.

No doubt.

Anyone could have been tricked by such a move.

Shame, this is what MMA fans are gonna remember him for.

It was a good fight, and he put in a good performance.

he's gotta beat someone with a triple backfist to erase the sting

So true, some mma gyms have definitely taken away from the honor, self discipline/control and respect aspects of martial arts whuch IMO is the most important part of it all. It seems like and I have beem to a few gyms while travelling that they focus on creating great fighters that are complete arrogant assholes that abuse their skillsets to re-enforce their egos and when shit goes wrong they act like asshole babies.

Its tough to find a gym these days that trains people to be a better human being allong the path to being a better fighter

even if you take that as an indisputable fact - that it was a lucky punch that bailed out a fading fighter, or whatever - bro still got banished to the land of wind and ghosts. like, no one cares that you slipped on a banana peel. you have a moonroof in your head, go to the hospital

Insane fight IQ. Chamber the kick off a hop, guy probably expects a question mark kick puts his hands to that side to block it, throw the first shot to that side to give the guy confidence and then torque into the other side with the kill shot. Michelin star striking.

some men really don't believe they can lose though. and if they do ever lose, it is because they were not at their best or didn't train or any excuse. not just in fighting but in anything. it is a side effect of ego and testosterone and perhaps some lack of experience and greater awareness that makes males think they are invincible.

As for Petrosyan: he lost. was he doing alright in that fight? yeah. but so was Alexander Volkov when he was beating Derrick Louis for fourteen minutes and fifty something seconds.

I get the mentality especially for a fighter but I like the Sean Strickland approach more. Just admitted Alex was a bad matchup for him, and was humble enough to go train with him. Even got a title out of it. You improve the fastest when you're willing to do anything to win, even admit weakness or befriend a former enemy.

When someone beats me at something I want to dissect how and why so I can come back and beat them next time. Diminishing the guy that beat you makes you look like you ain't shit too lmao.

Lucky in the same way anyone landing a spinning backfist + back fist combo is lucky. Or the Yair v Korean Zombie elbow. Or Max KOing Gaejthe in the last second of their fight.

Seems to me the more a fighter trains the luckier they get.
