He said he only lost the first fight vs Merab because his hand/arm was broken. He only fought with one hand. Merab said it was just excuses and asked what his excuse will be when he loses again? It appears Yan is vindicated. Would the first fight have gone the same way had Yan been healthy?

It's hard to go against disciplined fighters who develop good habits. Win or lose they eventually become champions.

Only if he beats Aljo and O'Malley.

Two fighters that draw so much Sherdogger criticism, yet they found ways to Win.

Yan put all his paper merit into a gutsy performance. Dude started to waver in the third but then got renergized in the fourth. His technique was darn near perfect, even when Merab threw and landed, Yan would not yield and give ground, making takedowns against him much harder/impossible. The little things he did, the vast experience, it was a great show.

They all fight hurt, Merab is probably getting a rematch so if I was him he should say his ribs were hurt so we can later say: "Merab vindicated"

Nahhh. Merab's hand was also compromised in the first fight. Yan just leveled up and performed well last night. He was prepared. But what's good for the goose yaddi yaddah; Merab is coming off a hell of a year and you're insane if you think this was his best performance. 4 weight cuts in a year has clearly taken its toll.

the guy stood too long in the first and Yan started off a lot faster than normal, but even for a guy that fought four times a year, Merab's cardio was still S tier, an absolute menace.

He looked human. Not gassed, but visibly slowed. I think the punishment he was taking had a lot to do with it. To be able to absorb those body shots and keep going. Very impressive. You can't say that Merab isn't durable af.
