MLB Pete Rose died

If I was Johnny Bench or Morgan I'd picket outside the HOF and just start making trouble. Shame them into letting Pete in. Make them uncomftorable.

It seems the HOF is just going to do nothing like with SJJ. They didn't even acknowledge the death(if i'm wrong I'm wrong been looking for their statement for days can't find it). Cowards. Most cowardly thing I've ever seen in sports. You'd think they'd at least make a boilerplate "we are saddened at the loss of x and blah blah blah blah" but nope can't even do that.

The fact that the MLB tries to send the image that they are a “pure” sport is what makes the Pete Rose situation insulting.

Outside of maybe Boxing, Baseball has the longest history of institutionalized corruption, dating back to segregation.

So they take Pete Rose’ gambling as a route to the high road? Hypocrisy at its finest, the HOF is just another era in the corrupt history of the MLB.

The baseball hall of fame is supposedly independent of MLB. They argue that they won't vote since MLB has him banned for life. He has been banned long enough. Just like we all thought he will be inducted once he passes away. RiP Mr Rose one of the greatest ever. I admire him for being the hard working player who realized how lucky he was to play in the big leugues.

Bench had a great interview with Dan Patrick a day or so after Pete died. Former Reds guys tried to help Pete. They basically sat down with him and told him he needed to show contrition. We are a nation of people who forgive but if you dig in your heels (Clemens, Bonds, Lance Armstrong) we don't take kindly to it. But Pete refused to do it.

Eventually he did admit to gambling while managing I believe. But said he only bet on his team....but obviously that's a problem unless he gambled on every single game witht he same amount of money.

Anyway, he should 100% be in the hall as a player regardless of what he did as a manager. Though in a recent interview I believe he said if he didn't get in while alive he didn't want to get in after he died. It would be hypocritical....which I tend to agree with. If they didn't let him in before, don't put in him now b/c he died.

The DP intereview is well worth the listen btw. Bench was almost in tears a few times....he was so incredibly sad and frustrated with Pete.
