anyone been around or known someone who always has a reason why something didn't happen, why they didn't get where they were supposed to, do what they were supposed to or have the life they were supposed to.

some people no matter what just can't acknowledge they weren't good enough, didn't work hard enough, didn't do enough or whatever the case maybe; in any situation their first and last statement is what someone else did or didn't do that led to the life they have, it could be their boss, their parents, wife, kids, friends, etc.

when did it become so popular to not be aware of the role you play in your fortunes and misfortunes.

it's been going on for quite a while. probably since the dawn of man.

My younger brother. He has been fired or let go from every job he has. He was once working at a job and they posted his exact job on a job site like Monster.com. He has been let go from 5 different jobs/same industry and refuses to say it had to do with his work ethic or how he treats people. Its always someone else.

do your best and let the chips fall where they may. you can't control everything around you but you can control your own actions. we live in a society that promotes lack of responsibility.

People hate to make mistakes or take blame. I have never met anyone who said proudly I messed up.

Sure you have some people say I messed up and try to make up for it and that is a good attitude but they would have rather not messed up.

Today a lot of people rather blame somebody else, their parents, government, society etc. But in the end it is you who suffers.

I think it comes down to fear. I was listening to a jiu jitsu podcast where one guy said he started to bet on himself and take a risk in trying to make jiu jitsu a career. He came up with a lot of excuses not to do it, college education wasted, parents wouldnt approve, not good enough. In the end all those reasons were washed away.

A lot of people are afraid to take that step and rather then admit fear they want to blame themselves.

I thought I made a mistake once, but it turned out to be someone elses fault.

That's a huge pet peeve of mine. One of my friends always manages to put the blame on me or someone else if X doesn't go his way.

I intentionally put myself in situations where I have no one to blame but myself if something happens. It builds character and makes you a better person. I don't want a crutch.

Lol, this. Why do people always think something so basic is only recently come to order.

There is an opposite extreme of this and that those are people that think no excuse is legitimate, which is pretty stupid.

But to the subject, I think a lack in confidence is often the reason people don't go through with things and thus make excuses. But the lack in confidence is still a legitimate reason for failing. One that should be worked at in a constructive way.

The "I have been too busy", "Or I don't have enough time" is the most annoying excuse for me.

I have a friend who is always talking like the world has held him down. He works as a cashier and just looks at people his own age and wonders why he can't be lucky and have a decent job like them. I think is has something to do with all his tattoos and his crazy hair that he refuses to cut. He is really only a friend these days because we have known each other forever.

Fat, smelly ginger bloke at work. Totally incompetent at everything yet it is always someone elses fault when it goes wrong.

He reversed a van off platform lift and out of workshop earlier. He turned too soon and the front wheels dropped off the side of platform and ripped the front spoiler clean off in two pieces.

It was the van that had suspension lowered too much. Fucking van.

The gut is a complete fuck up and comes out with this shit on a daily basis.

I recently was partnered up with the biggest flaker. The assignment was simple. Visit the local courthouse and report on arraignments, preliminary hearings, and a trial. Simple right? Wrong. Only visited the court house twice with me and didn't get shit done. And he always had a reason such as "I lost my phone", or my grandma needed my help. When the paper was due I already let the professor know that I have decided to work on my own. When it was time to turn it in the flaker asked if he could take pictures of my paper so he can have something to turn in. I just looked at him for a sec and walked away.

This guy in my class would always be late or just not show up on test days. He didn't even show up for the final. Because he would "over sleep"
