UFC TILL I DIE

I think realistically, they should be taking the two headliner fights on each of the UFC on whatever it is events and apex shows and putting those fights on a numbered event and reduce the amount of filler events.

I feel that with the UFC not really promoting fighters individually anymore, it gives 90% of the roster an even more generic feel.

Some good fights sure, but if I want to watch nobodies punch it up, i can just watch russian promotion weigh-in videos.
I made a note of something recently when looking for articles and promotional posters for entire cards to see how many ranked fighters are on each card, and not only were the results what I thought, that there are much less ranked fighters fighting on cards than there used to be, and further down the numbers, but my search was made difficult because there just wasn't good access to that kind of information in easy to consume ways. That means that the promotion is doing nearly nothing to show people a card and go "Here are some significant fighters you should pay attention to. Look at these numbers by their names."

The promoter isn't promoting fighters at all. They're promoting their events and hoping the attention just sticks to whatever fighters it can stick to. I know this criticism can just be rejected by people who say "look at their success," but they're succeeding as a business just because of their already established position and their business model, but the argument that they're any good at actually promoting fighters is just nonsense to me.

All you Sher-dorks just need to SU and pay $89.99 to watch Merab dry hump another manlet for 25 minutes because Joe Rogan and all his drug abuse will tell you this is high level/once ever stuff.

Get it together people. Geez.

I welcome paying $129.97 for WMMA amateur hour, midget dry humping and morbidly obese tae bo

Problem is their top fighters are extremely inactive. Champions and even many top 5 contenders are tending towards fighting once every 8 months. The UFC can't fill their events with this level of inactivity.

Either the UFC need to fight a way to force fighters to be more active, or they're stuck with the larger roster.
why don't they just incentivize multiple fights per year? Add a big bonus for it

Not sure what a yellow card actually means would never watch a stupid sport like soccer. If head trauma isn't a possibility not interested.

And why do you have a black guy asking if i'm jelly? Don't swing that way.

Is that why you watch fights. You just let your imagination run away with you?

I don’t watch soccer either
Sounds like you might have some head trauma yourself brother
Try harder next time

<{outtahere}>

And not 1 yellow card<28>

I’m retired due to illness and this is the only social media site I go on
Sherdog is life brother
You jelly !?

<{shaqs}>
lol how did you do that, I dont even know why I had yellow card for like 5 years :P ( not that I cared for it)

I´m not complaining about Merab, he and the UFC made me care. I am not invested in seeing new guys from 135 125 145 and new WMMA. I always care to see fights of fighters I understand, them and their fighting style, who they are. When I see a card of fighters I don´t recognise and it´s a lot of under LW and WMMA than I am not very interested. If I don´t recognise them but they are big, I still wanna watch cause they hit so hard and big bodies are interesting, the power and strength. That´s just me. Seeing random big guys throw hard stuff is fun. Seeing technical battles of 125ers I don´t know, is jut not capturing me. Once I know them I like to watch it. Merab is totally fine. And the rest of the 135 top 10. They gotta stack more and create more stars, and sign more uper weight class guys. HW is rare, LHW is stagnant. LW is very alive always been. WW is perhaps solid. I personaly just like seeing more LW + fights. It´s been a lot of sub 155ers. It´s purely personal preference. I just feel like cards are full of non stars. And main cards are watered down. Part of it is not entirely their fault. If some people just opt to sit out for a year. I just wish they invested more to snatch up more top internatinal talent. If you love lower weight classes and WMMA, the UFC is looking great right now. I mean WMMA used to be great, I feel like it fell off.

tl/dr

sign more LHW HW, put on more MW WW fights

reduce the 125, 135, WMMA dominated cards

I know it sounds a bit meadheadish, it´s just what I like to watch

So you pay for everything regardless of quality and without being critical of the product, maybe you are a millionaire??

With how garbage fight nights and PPV's have been this year, i can not imagine how garbage contender series are.

The UFC needs to trim most of the roster

Too many no name cans on the roster who cost the UFC money instead of making money for the UFC

Should be around 15-20 fighters per division only

UFC actually needs to be the best of the best again not just full of no name cans whose skill level are equivalent to bums fighting on the street
This 100%
They need to stop trying to market their self promoted regional talent from the contender series. It’s just a disguise for their cheap labor practices.

I remember the days when the UFC actively hunted the top talent in other combat sports or even rival orgs.
All this has led to is them being ok with giving easy fights to popular fighters who don’t deserve it and it brings down the overall skill average of what we are watching. This is the product of cheap fighters over actual talent.

They should operate more like the WWE (not the pageantry and acting). WWE owns and maintains two other brands (NXT and TNA), and they continue to run shows in each. If people get over big in the other brands, they usually get added to the main roster. Occasionally when they need someone to step, someone from the alternate rosters will step up for appearances (Joe Hendry, etc.), and return to their brand after the match. They could have multiple champions in each weight class if they had multiple brands. The UFC gold would obviously be the main attraction, but you could have cards every once in a while where the UFC champions defend their titles against the champions of the other brand, all while maintaining your best fighters in the main brand.

They wouldn't even need to create new brands. They already bought enough brands they can just recycle them (WEC, Strikeforce).

This is about where I'm at. I used to have every card written on my calendar, now I don't even know if a card is and have no idea whose fighting.
Me too brother, I skip a lot of the UFC Apex events because I hate Apex, it has no energy, atmosphere or buzz, its totally flat, its like a church graveyard, MMA is a high energy sport, you need real humans there. As for the PPVs yeah they are charging $80 per card and a lot of the PPVs are so weak, they put 1 or 2 good fights on top and the rest is so mediocre, I just can't justify paying $80 on it, when I used to pay like $20 for UFC 40 for example which was amazing, prelims better than todays main cards.
