Well, it's partially the fault of how ugly most WMMA fighters appear. Ronda is a certified hambeast with the worst breasts in MMA and they tried to market her as a sex symbol. Betch Koe-Hee-Uh looks like a certain male movie star. PVZ looks like a chimp extra from Planet of the Apes.

If the competition wasn't so subpar looks-wise, she wouldn't be receiving so much hype.

No I'm pretty sure it's a combo. We judge fighters on skills and are attracted to charisma. With female fighters this often has to do with looks, that's just the way the world works.
