I also think it was all part of khamzats game plan to just play it safe and ground and pound. He never seriously tried to look for a finish. His team must have made that decision for this entire camp.

DDP's defense was on point but it was also due to the fact that he chose to stay safe and survive rather than risk exposing himself by trying to improve his position/force a scramble.

He didn't even frame off when he was on bottom to avoid opening up any GnP opportunities.

It was his most dominant decision win he's had wtf lol if Dricus was better, the fight would have been better.

If he did more than accept full defense mode, the fight would have been better.

Yeah, he would've most likely have gotten tapped if he did try to get out of the positions compared to shelling up defensively. I get doing that for the first a couple of rounds to see if he tires but he seemed way too intent on not getting finished rather than winning the fight.

One of the biggest things about Khamzat that will potentially lead to more performances like this is that he doesen't really seem to have limb subs or posturing into nasty GnP in his arsenal (unlike Khabib). He will basically get the takedown then advance position and look for an opportunity to strangle his opponent.

A guy with very good TDD and dangerous Ju-Jitsu would make a great match up for him. He's got an unreal shot, elite chain wrestling, great (if one dimensional) submission grappling - so anyone he fights with limited TDD and rudimentary grappling like Dricus has the chance of being a pretty snoozy win.

Add to that Dricus didn't take risks to try and get the fight back to standing, focused way too heavily on just not getting finished.

Actually made the attempt to finish the fight in the 5th with the RNC while Hugmaev just hugged the whole fight, he makes Fitch look like Gaethje

Under the pussified UFC rules, Hugmaev wins

Even the pro Hamas crowd was booing all that hugging and cheered when Dricus locked in the RNC

Hugmaev "fans" better have that same energy about defending that hugging when Fitch was doing that

Looking forward to seeing the belt getting defended once every 2 years in a hugfest

Criticize DDP. Khamzat is supposedly the guy with horrible cardio. So not only was it within his best interest to have that kind of performance, people were literally saying before the fight he would not be able to win a decision— and would get broken. DDP accepted losing a lopsided decision instead of going for the finish all five rounds due to the risk of being finished himself.

This is a fair assessment. Short of just really being a Khamzat fan or a fan of dominant top control you wouldn't have enjoyed the fight. I went in rooting for Khamzat and enjoyed the first probably half of the fight. but after that once the outcome was inevitable I would have liked to see him be a bit more aggressive with GnP for a finish. But he didn't he still absolutely dominated lol. Anyone saying that they won't be anticipating his next fight is wack

First off this is coming from a huge Khamzat ass licker.

It was not the most exciting / entertaining fight, but it was one sided domination. This is probably Khamzat least exciting fight I've seen. And usually his fights is highly entertaining. Making him one of if not the most must see fighter in MMA.

So yeah he had one fight that was not up to par in terms of being highly entertaining. It's just one fight, when he comes back in next fight and gives us a highly entertaining bout. Than all will be forgiven and forgotten.
