International Pentagon announces $8.6 billion Boeing contract for F-15 jets for Israel

It’s a long way to Iran,

They are going to need them..

Are we paying for this and giving it to them or are they buying them from us ? I'm not clear on that detail from the article.

$344 million per F-15. Looks like Israel only have to pay $840 million of it. Perhaps someone else is pocketing the difference.

The Boeing Company, St. Louis, Missouri, was awarded a ceiling $8,577,700,000 hybrid cost-plus-fixed-fee, fixed-price incentive (firm-target), firm-fixed-price, undefinitized contract action for the F-15 Israel Program. This contract provides for the design, integration, instrumentation, test, production, and delivery of 25 new F-15IA aircraft for the Israeli Air Force with an option for an additional 25 F-15IA aircraft. Work will be performed at St. Louis, Missouri and is expected to be complete by Dec. 31, 2035. This contract involves Foreign Military Sales (FMS) to the State of Israel. This contract was a sole source acquisition. FMS funds in the amount of $840,000,000 are being obligated at the time of award. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity (FA8634-26-C-B001).

Does this mean Beoing has resolved their QA/QC issues?

We give Israel like $3 billion per year in aid so one way or the other we're paying for $3 billion of this contract.

There’s absolutely no way that our air tight national budget/spending, fully accounted for always and forever, would ever possibly end up being funneled to Israel. No way. None of the billions and billions that vanish from the national budget each year goes to Israel outside of fully accounted for channels. Unfathomable.

They will just be missile trucks for their F35's, F35's don't have anywhere near the payload capacity of an F15.......

My nephew is working on i! He was hired in August by Boeing to workin QC/QA. It is his first job out of college and, well he isn't loving it. Working in QC makes one unpopular, in any company.

I would be pissed if we were buying these for our military but now we are buying jets for another sovereign country? WTF? Someone is making millions on this deal.

The F15 is the jet Israel wants when they have air dominance. It holds more ordinance than the F16 or F35. Israel sends in the F35s to destroy air defenses and control the skies, then they send in the F15s to do the heavy bombing lifting.

For whatever reason, Israel isn't interested in maintaining a fleet of strategic bombers. The logic I've seen is that they prefer F15s, which are more versatile and can double as air defense patrols if necessary. You're not going to shoot down Shahed drones with a strategic bomber, but you can shoot down Shahed's with F15s.
