Paying it forward

I always do it at the toll plaza.

Can confirm nice people are real,

Happened once to me at a Starbucks.

I was dumbfounded in the moment, I didn’t know what I was supposed to do..

Was I supposed to do the same thing, like a chain letter?

Pretty normal, about once a week I will do that for coffee or drive through, pay forward for 20$

A couple of years ago I was at Starbucks and some youths had ordered but didn’t have enough to cover the cost. I paid for them.

Of course, it was more that I just hate standing in lines and was in a hurry to get back to work than it was me being altruistic.

I had someone pay for my fuel once... I found it positively mystifying why someone would do that.

It was like $100 too.

I've done it. Saw a lady clearly crying trying to use every card in her purse to get gas. She just shut down and leaned against her car looked at her phone and then put it away. I was on the other side of the pump.

Walked inside and put like $20 on her pump. Walked out and put the fuel in her car. She was trying to say thanks but she was kinda hyperventilating.

I haven't thought about it in a long time. She didn't look like a drugged out weirdo in some clapped out beater. It looked like life kicked this lady in the guts a couple of times. Sometimes people need help. Do what you can, when you can, when you know you should.

But $100? Sheeeeiiiiiit.

Bear in mind, its different in Australia, we put the fuel in, then go inside and pay... I guess its possible that someone accidentally gave them the wrong pump number and paid for mine instead of their own and then drove off instead.
