Paulo Filho adding to the Rickson Gracie myth

And I didn't run a search before posting this thread. If it's been done already, just ignore this one.

Wow man. That was sweet, thanks.

Stories like this you'd think would make it very hard for any logical thinking individual to completely doubt Rickson's skill.

Personally I believe they were incorrect about no one from Carlson Gracie's lineage, as in his top guys, having trained with Rickson. Though if anything from what I've heard that only adds to how good Rickson's skill might really be.

It's pretty impressive everytime hearing a guy from BTT say what Paulo Filho said in that article.

How can you doubt Rickson's skills?

I'm not going to say that you should believe he's the greatest grappler, period. He probably isn't. But you're basing your complete opinion off of what other people say about him? If you really care to have an opinion, spend the time to go roll with him yoursef. It's the only real test you could do.

I'm indifferent. He's obviously very, very good (he's proven that, at least). I've never rolled him, so I obviously am not in a place to judge his skills.

I've rolled with him. He's very, very good... (like maybe he was in part the inventor of this stuff, or something). Unless you are a common household name to grappling fans, you are merely a small child to him on the mat, I assure you.

If you've trained with Rickson, you know that he's the equivalent of Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan in terms of the top of the game. He's also a very charismatic individual, very likeable.

I hope to trian with him one day.
We still live in erra of people that have become living legends.
One day they will all be gone.. and i will have liked to say.. i met and got to roll with them.. including rickson.

I agree. We're so lucky that he's still alive and rolling right now. One of these days I'm going to get my sorry ass up there to LA and actually sit in on a class with him.

I thought he stopped teaching at his school?
Think I read it here or TUF, so it could be utter bs

in a thread a while back, i believe it was johil said that rickson hasnt been at his academy since last august. relson has personally told me the same thing. relson's words were roughly 'ever since his son died, he hasnt done much... he hardly teaches at his academy anymore too.' in a way i dont really blame the guy.

but then again, i completely do. rickson is a legend and rightfully so... it is of no surprise that filho is now publicly confirming this as well. anyway, point is.. rickson has so much knowledge that he should be more active in bjj. i think he should be focusing solely on the 'best of the best', and turning them into truly, the best of the best. someone like filho is a master already, but i couldnt imagine how tight his game would be after working with rickson for 6months-a year!

i say leave his school to the other black belts under him... but once someone is serious to fight under his name, then he should take them under his wing and make them into a monster. however, i dont really see this happening if youre not a gracie.

Just read the article.
The real question is: WILL RICKSON COMPETE AGAIN, AND IF SO, WHEN?

Word. How many can hope to go one-on-one with Michael Jordan? Or hit the golf course with Tiger Woods?

When oh when is someone going to think of videotaping a sparring sessions with Rickson? I've heard enough of how great he is, now I want to witness it with my own eyes. Thus far the only footage I've seen of Rickson are: Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in Action clips (people with no BJJ background), MMA fights (mostly cans), Royler/Rickson demo, a 15 sec clip of him vs. Rigan Machado, and a seminar in Chicago where he tapped out like 20 people in a row but these guys were only BJJ students. I want to see him against a top level BJJ player.
