Donald Trump and I have talked at great length about things such as the proper role of the executive and fundamental principles such as the protection of life. The list of potential Supreme Court nominees he released after our first meeting was very encouraging.

But the House policy agenda has been the main focus of our dialogue. We’ve talked about the common ground this agenda can represent. We’ve discussed how the House can be a driver of policy ideas. We’ve talked about how important these reforms are to saving our country. And we’ve talked about how, by focusing on issues that unite Republicans, we can work together to heal the fissures developed through the primary.

Through these conversations, I feel confident he would help us turn the ideas in this agenda into laws to help improve people’s lives. That’s why I’ll be voting for him this fall.

It’s no secret that he and I have our differences. I won’t pretend otherwise. And when I feel the need to, I’ll continue to speak my mind. But the reality is, on the issues that make up our agenda, we have more common ground than disagreement.

For me, it’s a question of how to move ahead on the ideas that I—and my House colleagues—have invested so much in through the years. It’s not just of choice of two people, but of two visions for America. And House Republicans are helping to shape that Republican vision by offering a bold policy agenda, by offering a better way ahead. Donald Trump can help us make it a reality.

Thoughts?

Good boy...

Apparently the party is more important than anything.

It took a little longer than I expected, but we knew it was coming. I don't think it's even embarrassing for Ryan.

Trump's campaign had been a seminar on how to use media. Of course he's going to be endorsed by the party; he's the only one left standing.

Not as sad as John McCain endorsing him.

Fully expected anyhow.

There were some claims that members of the Republican Party would not endorse Trump, does anyone have any information on which politicians openly stated they would not and their official position now?

I had assumed in past threads that, were Trump to be the nominee, that the entire party would fall in line and support him regardless of what was said before, and I'll be interested to see if I end up being correct.

I wonder if Romney will follow Ryan...now that would be funny.

Somehow, despite his history, McCain is a spineless shit bag with zero personal integrity.
You're talking about the same guy that backed Bush and hired Rove after they went after his daughter in South Carolina in 2000.

I know, but somehow this one feels worse. Especially since he is never going to get to run for president again.

It is probably because he actually has a small challenge this time in AZ.

Meh, I lost all respect for McCain after the 2000 campaign.
If you let someone get away with that sort of behavior about your child, you'll let people get away with anything.

Its all a show for party unity, and I'm amazed more people don't see that. If they refuse to endorse him, and make a weak showing of being fractured it would depress republican voter turnout which would be horrible for dawn ticket elections. I doubt if even most of the people that are now getting behind him even think he can win, but they want the highest turnout possible to help hold onto the house at the very least, and possibly the senate. If they can do that, they can stonewall Hillary till the midterms when democrats forget to vote and try and get the mojority needed to overturn vetoes and essentially eliminate her power as president.

We know what it is, the issue is the lack of integrity it highlights.

Since endorsing Trump, he has called him a racist and told delegates to vote their conscience.

Hell of an endorsement.
