Paul McCartney is joining Nirvana

I stand correct! In all honesty I like Pink Floyd. Good music, but just not my taste over all. I know its the hipster thing to hate the Beatles, but i love their music. They were the first band I fell in love with. I must have been 6 or 7 when I couldn't stop playing their records.

The Beatles were the first corporate-manufactured boy band packaged and crammed down America's throat. That's about the only substantive precedent they ever set imo.

Anyone know what songs were performed by McCartney's Nirvana last night? I need a good rofl.

Some shitty new track. They deprived us of lulz.

That's absurd, and plain 100% factually incorrect.

You must be confusing the Monkees for the Beatles.

I was naive and thought the same thing in my early teens. I didn't know anything about The Beatles other than I thought they were just the first boy band.

I bought their #1s collection when it came out just to see what the big deal was and couldn't believe it.

If you think they are a boy band, you don't know much about them. The Beach Boys have a similar stigma with people thinking they are just corny squares in striped shirts signing silly beach songs. You can't judge either band by the old black and white footage they show from their early appearances.

Very good point. The American Beatles. Top, top band! Brian Wilson is a genius and one of the greatest songwriters in history. I laugh my ass off when they're ridiculed on tv ("fun fun fun"). Tells me they're musical idiots and haven't listend to Pet Sounds, Sunflower, or Smile, or Surf's Up - for OPENERS!

I honestly think OP is either trolling for shits and giggles, or confusing the Beatles with the Monkees (who WERE a manufactured copy of the Beatles, minus the musical talent).

Or he's channeling the guy in his avatar a little too hard. :icon_lol:

^^^ lol yeah you nailed it. I'm busted. I honestly do think they're a bit overrated but I also acknowledge their place in history. I mean, all of my favorite bands cite The Beatles as inspiration so I'd have to be pretty derp to take them for granted.

I love Paul McCartney's voice, songs, musicianship, stage presence, etc. He does kind of seem like a doofy bastard though, doesn't he?

I'll tell you this, if George Harrison were still alive, I think he could actually make relevant art with Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl. Trust.

Speaking of George, let me throw this down from his first cd post- beatle break-up.

And this guy was the third best songwriter/singer in the Beatles. :icon_lol:

Take it away George ...

edit: RIP Ravi Shankar
