Pat O'Keefe: Essential kickboxing!

U maybe didn't get that there aren't subsection just for MMA fans....
See, this is just the thing. One quotes MMA is the 'acid test,' for all arts (inc. striking). Then, there is a 'subsection' for MMA.

And you know I love MMA as a fan, spectator. Though the quality of the competitions today disappoints. But there's a series of women's MMA title fights which I just think is the bees knees, to borrow a phrase. As really captures issues multiple posters have discussed recently on TSF. Great entertain w great martial arts(in the acid test setting).

Me, I just want boxing basics now. Found another video of a trainer demonstrating on the heavy bag, beginning w the jab. I'm having trouble seeing all this value of the jab (a la Freddie Roach, boxing, et al). This trainer does a great demo of the jab AND has all the elements of basics working together... I say that's HARD.

A basic theme of what I'm posting here (instead of "'TMAs' can't handle a jab"), is basics aren't basic.

Codebreaker's recent session.

One of the boxing basics I'v posted about is footwork. I continue to believe maintaining good footwork and the corresponding balanced boxing stance is much, much harder than I'm getting from the use of boxing I see (aside from top professional boxing fighters & those great amateurs I'm sure are out there).
According to the footwork explanations, I can now see the elements of good footwork in the pro sparring partner.

The second thing I see however, is how he is taken out of his footwork a number of times. REcovers nicely though.

I said Codebreaker put up a great training vid, and I'll say so again.
Appreciate the feedback man

Super training video. And such actual experience helps bring the lessons in Pat's vid alive.

I'm now going around how to work Freddie Roaches footwork lesson into my head. Looks easy to do, ain't.
