Crime Parents Charged After Pitbull Bites Baby's Head Open

if you have a large dog and it bites your children, live with the consequences.

A few weeks back, a lady and her kids were casually loading her car with a black lab, it was a "non aggressive" dog, however it was indeed sizeable. I was minding my business, walking, exercising in the morning, and their lab jet from the house all the way to the streets to catch me. I thought running behind a bush would help me, damn dog jumped right through the bush and bit my back.

The owner panicked, assured me that "it's never happened before", and I'm a sherdogger made of steel or could be the puffer jacket that saved me, not happy that my jacket is ripped, not happy about dogs..... you gotta big dog and it turns on your kids, it's game over..... if you have a kid, you've got enough responsibilities, why add dog to the mix? I guess some are preexisting, but still, kid or dog makes a whole lot of sense. Seems like the pit and other aggressive dogs are gaining traction, and I find it an appalling trend.

Labs usually aren't aggressive, that is odd.. playful yes but biting/aggressive to humans is not normal. It sounds like it was just poorly trained/disciplined by the owner.

Labs are inherently less dangerous than pit bulls.. pit bulls were literally bred to fight and kill.. Labs were bred to listen to humans. It's why they are often working dogs along with shepherds and golden retrievers.

My buddy raised pits for a short time

A “game” pitbull will actuall smile and wag its tail before it does some crazy shit. He was extremely well mannered but, he would rip another dogs head off w/o a blink. Hell, he even jumped through my friends living room window to chase the mail man once

Well, one day he did chase and bite the mail man. Friend had to put him down and stop raising them

It takes a certain person or persons to raise pitbulls. You need to be an active dog-owner, and know the traits of the pit breed

Too many regular ass people seek out this breed and do not know what they are in for at all. They need tons of excersize

I have a family of Boston terriers. The male (dad) I have is a straight alpha. He will fight anyone and anything and won’t think twice. Its the bull-breed in him and he is a little bull. At least he is 30lbs and 16” tall so he can be punt across the room shall he be possessed by the devil one day and his mouth can barely wrap my forearm. He is extremely loyal and listens very well, can be walked w/o a leash he listens so good, so dogs can give you two different personalities and as the owner you would be like “he’s a great dog”

I couldn’t own something like this that is 2x-3x its size and stature, larger jaw/mouth/teeth, especially with a kid

Hell, I had a yellow Labrador as a kid and he was mean as hell when he wanted to. He would challenge me and my step-dad when we had to punish him. He was around 90lbs and jacked when he grew up and it got scary a few times. He escaped once, got picked up, and we let it be…

Ya know this is just like the gun thing.

How many of them are in circulation vs how many people. Let's say there's a million of them out there and there's 1000 bites a year. Is that still not almost 100 percent safe?

Pittbulls are dangerous to kids and other dogs is true. But so many peoples also never have a problem and maul their kids and are the perfect family pet. Both things can be and seem to be true at the same time

How many of these pitt dog incidents really fell out of thin air vs how many of the dogs that attack kids were already showing signs of aggression and the owners ignored it because they didn't want to get rid of their dog is a Stat that I wish we had so that we had a much clearer picture of what is going on
In b4 that pitbull apologist weirdo comes and tell us that we are all idiots

Don t give a shit, the correlation between this brand and terrible attacks is too high.

Like I said 2 things can be true at the same time sometimes. I didn't deny that they are capable of mauling someone to death or deny that they do sometimes . But like 99.9of them don't and are just the family dog.

I don't deny that they can be dangerous and for sure you have to know you're dog and be responsible for them. I just don't think most of them are guilty of being monsters.

I'm perfectly fine with you not having one , wanting one or wanting to interact with one. I'm just sayin. Seemed like you wanted someone to so I thought I'd humor you.

In the past, we owned a German shepherd and currently a Mastiff (circa 130 lbs) owns me.

They are great dogs with great temperament, but I would never leave a small child unsupervised with either of them.

Not that I would fear that they would go all-pitbull on them, but an accident can easily happen.

At the end of the day, they are animals, and I would never take a chance no matter how small it is.

Parents should be charged. It's great to see people held responsible for their stupidity.

I would never trust a full-breed pitbull with a small child.. something about them loves to kill smaller prey. It's unfortunate and not their fault, but once you have a baby in your house that animal has to go.

I do think parents should be charged but man I see they have another kid to. So now their other child is going to lose her sibling and both parents all within a couple of years? Such a shitty thing they've brought down on their family. Hopefully they\she has grandparents she is close with that can raise her for a year or two.

We have a small 4 pound dog and a 25 pound dog. I keep both of my kids away from them unless I'm right next to them while they pet the dog. The reality is animals just don't respect kids the same way they do an adult. If my son tells my dog to go lay down or go to the kennel she looks at him like he's stupid. If I say it she does it immediately.

Interesting, thank you for your insight. Great read.

I agree, it is shitty and obviously the kids are victims here and its a very bad circumstance.

If you look at it as saving the kids from dummies who were dumb enough to put them in danger to be killed by the family pet, it puts things into perspective more than the kids are just losing their parents. It's hard, but at least they will be safe.

Very harsh I know but they do deserve it. Agreed, hopefully they have family that can take over.

Also, one more thing to add

I have been maintaining/servicing city-owned facilities as an electrician for over a decade in the city I work for

They happen to own an animal shelter

Guess what type/breed is around 75-80% of the population? And guess which hardly getting picked up when full-grown?

Its a sad case in itself and Im seeing this on a small scale and its a problem everywhere nation-wide. Its the owners wanting these dogs are not ready for it. The demand has over-populated the land-scape with them. Then they get thrown aside when it’s “too much”

Not saying there aren’t good owners of these dogs, there’s plenty. But the reputation is stained by the idiot owners that overwhelm them

The attack happened a year ago but the parents were indicted last week and both parents are in custody for reckless homicide, involuntary manslaughter and endangering children. The dog's name was Kilo and it was apparently known the dog had a vicious temperament. They left the baby alone with an 8-year-old sibling. The baby rolled off the couch and the dog grabbed it.

I dont know why people have these viscous beasts especially around kids

how many times does a kid have to be eaten for some one to say "no"?

I love pitbulls, and this is hilarious

I don’t understand why the pro-gun community who recognizes that issue is not an object but a people, doesn’t also understand that the behavior of a highly trainable animal is similarly the product of people and not the trainable animal.

the dog breed is illegal in Miami cause the humans were so stupid in their handling of these creatures, yet they all have guns. And everyday is a cinematic murder spree car chase on i95

If anything there should be a standardized application for ownership license and standardized practice of training once owned.

They’re great dogs

I've always been concerned when walking my kids to school, when are those pits getting loose and on me? Turns out a lab got to me first..... I'm still weary of the pits and canes that try to jump their fence made of half inch deteriorating wood.........

for now, I have a thick leather jacket that can protect me well from bites, but at some point, I'm going to have to consider a weapon for my early morning walks. I spotted a pair of coyotes a month back, my kids arent safe solo walking anymore.... it's stupid how popular these dogs are becoming increasingly popular..... raise some chicken instead folks.

To be fair these people were what the pitbull apologists highlight whenever there's an attack. They were bad owners. They abused the dog and left it around vulnerable targets. The dad was already in jail for domestic abuse when the charges for the dog attack came out.

Listen NGL I like you as a poster but I can t agree with the implications and I find your observation fallacious. Terrible events like a crippling dog attack are always by definition super low. But then why go for that one breed which outcripples humans and especially children by a wide margin? Would you drive the one care whoses breakes stop working 1/100000 times, if that car has 5x more accidents by malfunctionning breaks than other brands? Why the fuck would you want that brand in the first place? The very reason why people buy pits IS because they are dangerous dogs.
