Paddy by Sub?

chandler should win but he often loses fights he should win, if it gets out of the first, paddys in with a shout

Honestly I think Chandler's athletic ability will be the equalizer here. He's got good sub defense and hits hard as hell. Paddy's clearest path to victory is to push a hard pace in the first 1.5 rounds and then pour it on in the 2nd half as Chandler will inevitably fade. But I see Chandler doing enough in the first half of the fight to either finish Paddy or simply beat him up enough to take the fight out of him for rounds 2 and 3.

Paddy triggers many, but the lad is solid. As for Chandler, I’m always happy when the old war horse derails an up an comer ala Poirier vs. BSD.

I don’t mind either guy winning.

My prediction? Paddy is entering prime, and this is his biggest test to date. Chandler is past prime and been in some serious wars. Sitting out for years waiting for Conor only compounds this. Paddy eats Chandler’s best shots and wins a close war of attrition.

Chandler may not look like much these days, he’s got a lot of hard miles now. Especially with a life-long wrestling back-ground

But I will say to this day, he is one of the most physical freaks Ive ever seen before my eyes inside a cage

I got to corner against him long ago, Strikeforce card. Before he could even make the 155lb cut and was taking catch-weight fights. Insane athleticism

Paddy is on his tear, but I hate to go against Iron Mike in this matchup. If he loses he should go on ahead and hang’em up

If Paddy doesn't get a TD early I think he gets KO'd

Paddy doesn't fight like he used to, I think his coaches told him his stand up is kinda shit and he's been much more cautious with his approach.

His grappling is great though and he will probably sub Chandler.

Yeah, he started out tryna be a knock out artist but his strength is his grappling. He has really bad defence and all this shit about 'scousers don't get knocked out' (uh, bro, Darren Till?), he will get caught sooner or later, I mean he has been caught but, caught in the wrong way that leaves him sleeping - and Chandler could very well be that guy,

He should focus on his strength, which is his grappling.

It's going to be funny when Paddy looks more dominant than Olivera against Chandler. I think Chandler looked poor against Olivera in their last fight, I would be shocked if Paddy doesn't just control everything.

Paddy via DQ after Chandler's cheating finally catches up with him.

charles couldn't do it, dustin could only sub chandler after beating him up on the feet. I think Paddy gets exposed here, he beat bobby green so easily because bobby made a low IQ choice of going into paddy's guard and getting subbed, chandler doesn't have great fight IQ but I expect him to do a better job of forcing paddy to strike and exposing his shitty boxing which we saw in the jared gordon fight
Except Green didn't make that choice. Paddy literally kicked his leg out from under him

I’ll say it again…Chandler is 38 and a known company man. Age alone should factor him out of this fight. But we all know how much he doesn’t mind getting used and He knows how to be a good lawn chair to boost Paddy’s stock.

The script is on the table and the closed captions are on people. Stop it.

Paddy has a slick ground game and is good at snatching up opportunistic submissions. That having been said, he was unable to finish a shopworn Tony on the mat despite spending a lot of time on top of him (though I guess you can give him a slight pass on this one by saying that he gassed himself out hunting the finish on the feet in Rd 1). Also worth noting that in the past we've seen guys with good offensive wrestling and strong bases who were capable of pressuring Paddy on the feet, taking him down, and grinding out rounds by controlling him whilst shutting down his guard game. Narimani and Bak both won Cage Warriors championship bouts against Pimblett by using this strategy against him.

In theory, Chandler could do the same thing. For all his flaws as a fighter, I will give Mike credit for his elite submission defense. The amount of time he has spent with Oliveira on his back or on top of him without getting subbed is insane enough. But then look back to his Bellator career and watch how he was willingly grappling with guys like Yamauchi, Primus, etc. I expected Poirier to beat him and probably even get a late stoppage, but not by sub. I honestly think it was an outlier and based largely on how exhausted/damaged Chandler was at that point.

That having been said, this feels like a crossroads fight. Pimblett has impressed me more and more with each win and forced me to raise my perceived ceiling for him. He seems to be legitimately improving. Meanwhile, Chandler came late to the UFC and then decided to spend like two years on the sidelines waiting for a Conor fight to materialize. For a fighter who relies heavily on his athleticism and explosiveness to do a lot of what he does inside the cage from winning wrestling exchanges or landing big shots (in a weight class that is notoriously unforgiving to old men) I think that could be damning.

A few years ago, I would have said sided with Chandler pretty heavily with the belief that he hurts Paddy bad on the feet using his speed & power advantage and if he gets in trouble, he just takes him down and holds him down while shutting down his sweeps & subs and intermittently landing GnP or threatening subs of his own to win a lopsided Decision. Maybe even a TKO. I think there's a chance that still happens, but now I can just as easily see Paddy clipping him coming in or managing to snatch up a wild submission in a scramble, especially if the fight goes late. I think it's 50/50.

Interesting matchup. Paddy has a good chin which likely will need. Chandler can wrestle ok so can probably avoid a sub. Paddy could smother and control maybe get a decision off chance get a sub. On the feet Chandler has the heavy hands. Like both fighters. Hope for a clean win for who ever is better or luckier on the occasion.

Chandler KO first round ....sends paddy back to the bottom of the top 20......then Chandler gets a Dana last chance privledge fight vS Justin G or Arman since connor is to coked out to ever return.... and gets annilated 1st round and puts the gloves down mid cage...... DC and Muscle Mike UFC Apex the next decade ..prepare for it

I think chandler is a company man and will happily cut cheesy promos for a nice pay day and lose to a fighter then would rather build up

Paddy wins

Maybe decision… deicison/submission double method bet

Chandler isn’t a great striker and paddy hasn’t shown a bad chin or a stupid enough iq to oblige a fire fight with a much shorter fighter
