Hi all,
Just wondering if this would be a good fight or a mismatch? Do you want to see Manny fight again or stay retired. Who would make a good opponent for him?

If Crawford beats Postol, which I believe he will but is not a sure thing, then he will be as ready as he ever will be for a Pacquiao fight.

It is not a mismatch. Crawford is smart and talented, and Pac is in his late 30's with over 65 professional fights of wear and tear.

I happen to think Pac's style is tough for Crawford. I would pick Pac by UD.

Pac that just fought Bradley still has more than enough to beat down Crawford. Crawford has barely fought over 135 and the guys he's fought at 140 are guys who always fought at 135. His best win was a guy who should be fighting at 130. Its too big of a step up right now for Crawford. People wanted to see Pac/Crawford based on the Pac that showed up against Floyd.

It is a mismatch. A guy who has never fought at 147 vs one of the best, most experienced 147 pounders of the past 20 years? Sorry, you're not going to convince me that beating Dierry Jean and Hank Lundy prepare you for Manny Pacquiao.

If Crawford beats Postol he'll be the lineal 140 pound champion. That wouldn't be a mismatch on paper.

Pac wrecks him.

I doubt we see that fight though.

I'd like to see it. Interesting style matchup. Most certainly would be a fan friendly fight. Pac wins, it adds to his legacy. If Crawford wins, a star is born. I'd be happy to see it.

He might, but it would be a legitimate fight all the same.
Meh, I don't agree. Crawford needs more quality opponents to earn a fight like that. He hasn't done enough to deserve it.

And Postol, presumably.

Crawford is bigger than Pacquiao, and the word is that Pac would drop weight to fight at 140 for the title.

That sounds like a genuine PPV event to me.

We've been hearing for several years that Pac is going to drop to 140 and yet he comes in heavier than the welters he fights. If it happens, it happens at 147 and PAc spanks him and ruins a perfectly good prospect.

I'd like to see Linares/Crawford should Linares beat Zlaticanin (and I think he will). That'd give us an idea of how Crawford reacts to fluid technique and speed

Tim Bradley's main accomplishments were at 140 before facing Pacquiao the first time and he was never lineal at the weight. No one questioned him as a viable opponent for Pacquiao. If Crawford beats Postol (and that's a big if), I find it impossible to argue he wouldn't be a legitimate opponent for Pacquiao.

Last I heard they weren't fighting, anymroe. Postol is clearly better (and obviously bigger) than Linares and a very good pure boxer in his own right, anyway.

I really wanted Crawford to have that opportunity back in April. He's as ready as can be, and I have confidence that he would have beaten Pac. Guys like Crawford and Garcia should take the massive leap to fight the Floyds, and Pacs of the sport. If they lose, so what? You lost to the best of the best. If they win, you know these guys are in the driver's seat of 140-147.

that's a shame, that's a pretty good fight. Most seem to consider those two guys the top two at LW.

Postol is definitely better than Linares H2H, but I think Linares has some interesting elements to his game that would challenge Crawford, specifically his speed and pinpoint accuracy and timing. Postol's a tougher fight for Crawford, but all I'm saying (and maybe I didn't make this clear) is that if Crawford is taking another fight before Postol, I think Linares is the fight to make.

Manny still is too much for Crawford. Would be competitive, but a UD for Manny is pretty easy call.

Lots of guys drinking that HBO kool aid in this thread.

Bradley was pretty clearly more seasoned than Crawford when he fought Pac the first time. Crawford hasn't even fought a high level guy at 140 pounds yet.
