Meltzer said the overnights are:
UFC .54
Bellator .43

He said if those ratings stick that viewership should be about 650k for UFC & 550-600k for Bellator

That is 100-150k less than Bellator usually does on Fri

What about SmackDown?

I'm guessing it did better than UFC and Bellator both combined.

Yeah, it usually does at least double that (combined). I doubt that changed.
Smackdown is not even WWE's focus

hahahaha, that's a shame, but yeah, that's probably true. I was say more than doubled both of them.

As an example the 8/29 did 2.73 million viewers.
Curious if it went down some. Can't find the SD overnights

Smackdown is always at the top of the ratings list. A lot of kids have nothing better to do on Friday and their parents watch with them.

A lot less kids than you think
Less than 1/4 of the audience is under 18

overnights mean shit since they dont count west coast.

How do they know that? Don't people have a box on their TV that tracks what they watch, and sends it to Nielson or whoever? How would they know who's watching the TV?

Serious question, I have no idea how ratings gathering works.

Yes... But only certain people. Nielsen sends out boxes to certain demographics. Each person represents something like 1,000 viewers. They now also have things like personal meters that look like a pager. They can detect whatever you are watching wherever you are. If you are not part of a Nielsen ratings panel, and you would know if you were, your viewership is irrelevant.

Here is the viewer breakdown

This breakdown comes straight from WWE's corporate site, accessed January 2013:

24% under 18
23% between 18-34
23% between 35-49
30% above 50

From WWE's third quarter earnings report, only 6% of WWE's active and lapsed fanbase is made up of "Fan Parents", or adults who only follow the product because of their children.

& the below poster is wrong

More than 2/3 of Smackdowns audience is either under 18 or over 50.

2.7 total viewers only 0.8 between the age of 18-49... It looks that over 2/3 falls outside the key demo.

lol, you are confusing VIEWERS with RATINGS
2.7 is the amount of viewers
0.8 is the ratings for the demo you quoted

They are not the same calculations

The actual rating for the 8/29 Smackdown was 2.0 (1.95 rounded)

OK... But it's based on a different total. 0.8 in the 18-49 would be 1,048,400 which is 38% so a little over a 3rd. So I was off a little.

BTW WWE's business breakdown of demographic icludes anyone who watched the program for just 6 minutes and includes all live shows and replays including the DIVA show.

I hate to do it to you again, but Total Divas premiered 6 months after the breakdown was released

I must have seen a newer breakdown then. One just releas we in july 2014.

a) It counted all shows (and replays) with Total Divas airing 17 that week
b) It counted everyone who watched at least "six minutes" of the show
c) It's not a "all-time record" (Hogan/Andre had 33 million viewers in 1988, Attitude Era had more viewers)

What is most surprising is it's largest single audience demographic is people over 50.

Anyway I digress. Personally I really don't care who watches the WWE and the age of the audience doesn't change the absurdity of the show.

Nice....Bellator catching up to UFC. Larger attendance, near equal ratings,...
