I just listened to the song out of nowhere after years not listening to it and wow what a powerful song.

A song no one talks about, but a masterpiece.

And when I say masterpiece, you would rate it a 10.

"A song no one talks about, but it's a masterpiece" = "one of my favorite songs and I've got better taste in music than you"

Seriously, what constitutes a "masterpiece", objectively?

Objectively? I don't know objectively speaking, but it all comes down to personal taste of course. But what you think is a 10 in your opinion. That a song that's not talked about often.

Again to each their own in what they think is a 10.

This.

I view this song as a masterpiece...

Frank Zappa and I seem to stand alone on that hill.

It's completely subjective.

Every form of art including music is subjective in the eye of the BEERholder as my mate used to say in a funny way :):):):)..... seriously, musical tastes are subjective, yes, but when I hear things like "you can't dance to rock music like you can to disco, so I don't like rock" it gives me the shivers ...some folk want you to be objective while blattering out this crap !!! Go figure !!

I guess it violates your "no one talks about" criteria, but this is one of the most beautiful recordings ever. No one could touch Whitney in her prime.

Objectively speaking, I agree with your last sentence here. Always objectively, can't say the same for starlets like Gaga, Beyonce and Rhianna :):)

........and before anyone jumps in here vehemently quoting record sales, popularity, "talent", be aware that's not being objective at all coz musical art is NOT about quantity but QUALITY !!!!

Exactly. If you love it enjoy it and feel it's a masterpiece then it is for you. There is no accounting for taste.
