Easy for us to say now with the plethora of mma and combat sports we're spoiled with. Back then they didn't have any thing to reference from except movies and the occasional fight on the street. Not to mention old style wrasling was more technical with less 'high flying' moves like today. They actually used a lot of real submissions which added to the realism..I don't get why it took a reporter to uncover the fact that pro wrestling was fake. The bouts didn't in the slightest look like actual fights, or actual wrestling matches, they looked choreographed. And the moves are so far removed from actual combat moves. The last second kicks from the three counts. It seems like anyone with a brain would instantly know that pro wrestling was an act.
