Media Overeem as ubereem had so solid and tight striking defense.

Is that actually him after all the horse meat? His head looks like it should be on a different body.
That was not that long after he announced his retirement. He shrunk quickly as soon as he quit the juice. He looks less buffed than that little Asian guy.

There was no duck there on either side. The fight just never materialized. Werdum and Bigfoot ruined the possibility of this happening by working Fedor over so badly.

Not true. Overeem specifically called Fedor out during his K-1 tenure and did again in Strikeforce before and after beating Werdum. Fedor’s management said they heard the callouts but don’t think fighting Overeem with his new found muscle was a move they were confident in.

Fedor entered the Strikeforce HW GP and didn’t make it far enough. He didn’t duck going into that tournament but he did before the tournament was put together. Overeem was actually pushing to return to Strikeforce to fight Fedor instead of Werdum.

In K-1 he was able to use his 12 oz gloves and huge, roided arms as protection. In MMA, he was KO's by slow, lumbering but powerful fighters Bigfoot, Browne and Rothwell.

And Ben Edwards wasn't that good...

Just let them roid bro.
Since UFC is entertainment oriented I want to see the injury free monsters with granite chins, unlimited cardio and confidence going at it.
Agreed 100%.

Steroids arent a guarantee win, no one believes they're not using regardless, and we as the consumers, are being entertained by folks fighting in a cage.

Name of the game is to BEAT the other one, physically, and even the nancy boys get in line for tickets.

Crying about PEDs has always been an indicator of a pussy.

He chin is fine. He tok like 20 bombs from Bigfoot before going down. Or a high kick from a top shape from Badr Hari ffs.
I don't know if I would say that a guy that got put away by strikes 18 times in his career had a fine chin.

But yeah, his recovery was bad and he was a frontrunner/bully. Those types tend to get put away more often when faced with adversity.

Nope.. that same defense work with mma gloves (prime Rampage) and even in bare knuckle muay thai as well.

Hell, Gaethje fought like that until the Poirier loss, & although Alverez & Poirier beat him, he had them both hurt & looking ready to go …

Ubereem beats any HW & has a similar run as Pereira. Fans would’ve just been mesmerized by his high level striking. His knees, counters, power & speed would’ve been the equivalent of Pereira’s leg kicks & Left Hook.

He also had some cardio issues that took away his recovery after taking a shot.
I love the ubereeem
My favourite ko of his (which was in the ewerton teixeira kb bout) was during that time

What hurts me at the time was how travis browne knocked him out and how he did actually argued he watched his fights and saw that defence flaw at his game (he was knocked out by a front kick)

It's always frustrating to hear people reduce boxing/kickboxing defense down to "just cover up with the gloves bro!"
I'm not sure if it's to get a rise out of people or if it's coming from a place of ignorance and they don't realize the tiny adjustments you have to make to actually block effectively. You can't just keep your hands glued to your head and expect not to get your shit rocked but I guess if you don't have any experience then that's what it looks like

It's true. Not to get too racial but people forget Overeem is half white half black and he inherited the best attributes of both races.

Imagine an athlete who is explosive and strong, but also punctual and highly intelligent. It’s a game changer.

I saw the Overeem vs Browne fight in person. The thing that sucked about that was Travis spammed the same front kick to the gut like 3-5 times and Overeem didn't even try to defend it

Even though it was Kickboxing and not MMA, we still saw Ubereem could get cracked in those Saki and Badr Hari fights.

In MMA, even in that Ubereem form he would still be vulnerable against powerful strikers with small gloves that could penetrate his cover-up defense which worked in K-1 but not in MMA because of the smaller gloves.

The guys I mentioned when they were at their peaks had no fear of any man, not even that version of Overeem. Like I said I could go 50-50 on any of those matchups.
That's a good point. I mean HW is sort of like that as it is with big guys and little gloves, technically Tuivasa could beat anyone. It's a shame we really only got 1 UFC fight with Ubereem and it was wasted on Brock, but the fact he was beating K1 guys and stuffing Brock, is pretty nuts.

It sort of can, I've seen rampage do it before be he also heavily rolls with the punches.

Ubereem vs DC or Fedor have always been the biggest what/if fights I can think of. Shit even DC vs Fedor would've been unreal
There's rumors that Fedor turned down Ubereem in Strickforce when they had all the HWs. DC would've been hell of green against Overeem at the time, but dude was a tank even when he first started. People forget how much aura Ubereem had at the time of his peak HW shape, basically no one thought anyone would beat him.

Against DC on steroids and DC isnt? ofc Overeem wins that one

DC vs Jones if jon fights clean would have been interesting forsure, probably 50-50
DC's drug testing results were really bizarre when everyone was focused on Jones, I find it hard that he wasn't doing something especially in Strikeforce with virtually no testing. He beat guys that were known for being on PEDs like Bigfoot and Barnett and just seemed to match their strength and cardio. If he was clean, then to me PEDs don't matter if you could just do those kind of things to PED users.

Jabbeb it out with Roy Nelson? He landed about a dozen flying knees on Roy.
I mean he kept a safe plan, he wasn't as aggressive with guys like that. As far as just getting inside and landing bombs like he usually did.

Its the knees and body kicks. I think Cain and Stipe could def win, but Ubereem put some huge guys down with those knees and kicks. That GP he backed out of, or got hurt or whatever ... .DC, Fedor, Rogers. I wanted to see him fight all three. At that moment in time I really wanted to see the Fedor fight. And fucking Rodgers was kicked the shit out of him until he got caught with an over hand.
I think of Econoreem vs Stipe, and even then Overeem almost won, I still think Ubereem would of destroyed Stipe, but I guess we don't know what Stipe would've looked like as a fighter if he was free to use PEDs like Ubereem.

He did fight Rogers in Strikeforce, 1st round tko. But DC and Fedor were dream fights at the time, everyone wanted it. Sad we only got 2 fights with Werdum and Rogers in strikeforce. The whole grand prix was sort of cursed with Fedor losing to bigfoot, Arlovski losing to Kharitonov, Overeem dropping out, and DC randomly joining and winning the whole thing. That tourney was the biggest thing in MMA at the time and all the big names were out the 1st round, probably what led to Strikeforce tanking.

Could've had:
Fedor vs Ubereem (if he beat Bigfoot)
Arlovski vs Barnett (if Arlovski won)
then I think it would've been Ubereem vs Barnett, but Fedor vs Barnett would've been a great redemption matchup for the Affliction fallout.

Helps that as Uberreem his forearms were the size of Texas and does very difficult to punch his chin thru them.
