I think Whittaker will be awesome someday and he has a chance to destroy a lot of guys on his way to the title and Hall has the potential to pull some crazy shit out of a hat but as of right now the top 4 guys are head and shoulders above the rest. Vitor is not in that group anymore after that performance against Jacare. he looked like an old guy off of trt with zero fight iq.
Luke may hold onto that belt for a long time.
I dont see Chris ever holding the belt again. If he is ever healthy again he could beat anyone other than Luke.

I also believe that Mousasi is not a huge drop off from the top

Agree for the most part, imo what really sets Luke, Chris, Romero, Jacare, and Moose apart from the rest is all of them have an amazing ground and wrestling that helps dictate the fight

Let's see

Rockhold
Weidman
Romero
Souza
Machida
Belfort
Mousasi
Bisping
Silva
Kennedy
Whitaker
Leites
Hall
Santos
Hendo

Top 15 look DAMN good to me tbh...

What about LHW? There are 2 and everybody else.
Flyweight has 1 and then everybody else.
BW has 3 and everybody else.

Agreed. Top 15 look pretty good and it's also a good mix of older guys still good but dropping off and young guys who have been getting better and better

It's seriously come a long fucking way since Anderson silva having to fight leites... MW has developed nicely

Think the moose is sleeping. Hasn't shown what he is capable of.

Not Hall though, he's spectacular but he is a relatively easy puzzle to solve.

I think MW is stacked the whole way. The skill gap and drop off at different levels is indicative of a deep division.

Its definitely a good division compared to HW, LHW, WBW, and Flyweight

It's not that steep of a drop, you have talented guys like Whittaker and Brunson on their way up. Barn Cat is back.

The Jacare fight would suggest otherwise.
Because he beat him? Big fucking deal. Weidman has lost, Rockhold has lost, Jacare has lost, Anderson has lost, every fighter in the top 10 a MW has lost.

I think it's all in the eye of the beholder - in the present moment, a champion seems unbeatable, #2 guy seems like a superman, and everyone else seems like mere mortals. We discount unproven/young guys and aging veterans, and then, a few years down the road, we often realize how flawed our thinking was.

For example, look at these consensus LHW rankings from January 2011: http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/1/2...uary-mma-consensus-rankings-light-heavyweight

Rashad Evans

3
Quinton Jackson

4
Lyoto Machida

5
Ryan Bader

6
Forrest Griffin

7
Jon Jones

8
Thiago Silva

9
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

10
Gegard Mousasi

In about a year from January 2011, Jones would obliterate #1 through #5, and the rest of the dudes would gradually become irrelevant (no disrespect). [/URL]

There is only one guy who stands out to me in that list that could beat Rockhold, and that is Jacare Souza, the others I don't think can beat Rockhold. I think he will hold the belt for a while.
