They also denied white customers service because they were...ya know...closed. This whole article reads like satire. Progressive insanity.

PORTLAND, Ore. —

Two employees of a bakery in Portland, Oregon were fired earlier this month for denying a black woman service because the business had closed.

"Back To Eden Bakery" released several public apologies and statements following the incident, before letting the employees go. In one Facebook post, the bakery's co-owner wrote, "We are doing business in a gentrified neighborhood in a racist city within a racist state of a racist country.”

In one statement, "Back To Eden Bakery" says that according to its own surveillance video, a black woman named "Lillian", who is well known in the area as a "professional equity activist", entered at 9:06 p.m., after the bakery's closing time. Employees had also turned off the "Open" sign, but several customers (all white) who had already ordered were still inside. Two other white women who went to the bakery two minutes before "Lillian", and were also informed that the business was closed for the night.

The bakery says "Lillian" left the store briefly and began recording video.

The bakery's statement says that even though it does not consider the employees to be racist and that they were following the business's protocol of closing at 9 p.m., they were fired because "sometimes impact outweighs intent." The bakery also says in the statement that the way the employees went about denying the woman service, "lacked sensitivity and understanding of the racial implications at work."

In the statement "Back To Eden" says the employees were fired because the woman and the "clamoring public" demanded they be fired.

In one statement, the bakery admitted that the employees did not necessarily do anything wrong, "this is more about how a black woman was made to feel" at the business.

That statements have since been deleted.

The bakery has also volunteered to participate in Portland's second "Reparations Happy Hour", a black-only event in which whites donate money, and the hosting business hands out $10 bills to all "black, brown, and minority ethnicities" who walk into the business.

Bakery fucked up by admitting they did nothing wrong.

Great way to get yourself a wrongful termination lawsuit.

I hope the employees win too, shit this is a damn gimme!

LMAO

Now you can't refuse black people service after closing. Talk about privilege.

Open up your wallet Mr. Bakery owner, you 'bout to get sued.

I can't find the details of this anywhere, except on right-wing sites like Blaze and DailyCaller.

But, if the facts are such as are represented, that's fucked up.

Hope the employees sue.

Either way, this owner is gonna white guilt themself out of business one way or another.

I followed the links and saw the Facebook post, and a video from the "victim", that I couldn't listen all the way through.

It checks out.

I didn't say that, but the link was scant on details and was from a local outlet in a city 2,000 miles away from Portland.

From what I read, it sounds like the purported victim misunderstood the situation and the owner of the bakery was way, way too eager to over-apologize. Really sucks for the fired employees.

well that was stupid, enjoy the lawsuit retards.

Inb4 all the people who defended the Starbucks employee demanding we see video evidence before we believe the narrative in the OP.

Dumb if true. I don't want to see anyone mistreated, especially on the basis of skin colour, but it's also ridiculous to reduce every situation to that basis.

If the facts are as stated in OP this is virtue signaling taken to absurd levels. Interested to see how a legal case goes if it happens

I agree. Sadly, there is currently a big incentive for those who are victims or who can posture as victims to do just that.

It's not remotely surprising. I've been to this place a few times since my girlfriend is gluten free. I mentioned once how it was funny it was called Back To Eden but didn't have any Christian symbolism in it, just Hindu/Buddhist. I like Hindu and Buddhism, it wasn't an insult by any means. They were even colder to me after that than they normally were which was normally pretty frigid. Always funny to see the left eat itself. When you think of SJW's, this is the place you're probably envisioning.

This is trash.

The fuck is wrong with white liberals?

As for the reparations happy hour, what stupid trash cunts came up with this? This is the most try-hard, patronizing shit I have ever heard.

How much must you hate yourself as a white person to do this? How much must you not value yourself as a colored person to show up to this? (Unless you are doing it ironically)

You have to be such a self hating piece of pussy trash to try to buy the affection of people of a different race, all the while actually viewing their affection as being for sale, which is in fact racist as fuck. You are basically saying that people need your handouts because of the color of their skin. If this happened around me, I would boycott and mock those businesses for fhe rest of my life.

It read almost like a satire, especially the line about firing the 2 employees. I didn't think this was legit but someone in here says that it checks out. Portland gonna Portland I guess.

We had a sort of similar situation in Toronto here last year I believe it was. A black woman (not an activist like in this story, but an actress) went into this small local theatre where they have a policy that you can't bring your bag inside. They offered to hold it for her at the desk. She refused and went ballistic, and either the employee at the front desk or the owner himself called the cops. She went to the media and went on a campaign against the place....but the owner and the employee both also went to the media and gave their side of the story, which really boiled down to the lady didn't want to comply with the theatre's policy. It blew over within a week or so, despite some left-wing media outlet's best efforts.

My point is, when you're actually in the right sometimes it's better to stand up for yourself and let it blow over. It's different in a situation like Starbucks. But this bakery may have been fine if they just told their story and let it ride out. Then again, the "victim" is a professional activist and perhaps that strategy might not work in Portland.

If as stated I hope the employees win a huge settlement and drive them out of bussness.
