Seems like he just doesn't have the motivation to stay in shape and continue to evolve.

One of the things I always found interesting about GSP was his honesty with himself. He always wanted to improve, always open about the mistakes he made, the troubles he had and faced, and what his opponents did well in their fights. Johny isn't like that and I think it holds him back.

Plus the fact that he gets so fat in between fights.
