one of the best fights of all time

It was a great fight.
But not top 10, no chance.

top 10 brawls at least

It's amazing to see how far Wanderlei fell off in terms of popularity. He was EASILY top 3 most popular fighters in the sport for yeeears and then suddenly he has a sketchy incident with a drug test and bashed the UFC and poof, he's rarely mentioned again. I guess it shouldn't be a surprise because MMA has the highest turnover of fans I have ever seen in a sport but still, thought he would always have a place
He’s still my 3rd favorite fighter of all time.

thanks for posting that cup rub was something special--also silva a scary looking guy--good fight indeed

There are alot of great fights.... this was a goody- but " one, best, of , all and time" are just words that should not be associated with this fight.

Please....

That fight pretty much ended both of their careers. Brutal.

I suspect Wanderlei might have had a bit more to give had he not gotten caught up in PED/contract issues.

I think this fight does also shown you the two sides to Silva. In the first round you have more the kind of brawler the UFC liked to hype him as but really what wins the fight isnt windmilling its some very well timed punched.

Really thats what peak Silva built his career on, ability to stay in fights, time those punches and then go into killcrazy mode to finish hurt opponents if needed.

Also a big turn over of athletes that further affects it.

It was epic in seeing someone standing toe to toe slinging rapid fire hooks with the toe to toe rapid fire hooking GOAT. And everything ended up right in MMA land because he retained his championship status.

I think I remeber Stann saying he knew it was going to be his last fight so he wanted to beat a legend at his own game.

They met in the middle and threw the fuck down!
