It really is. I don't even like calling it muaythai out of respect for the more traditional way muaythai is fought. This is its own thing. An MMA glove wearing, cage fighting, less clinching, more action packed, muaythai ruled fight. All those factors make a lot of difference and it should be given another label.
I wish it was its own thing under its own promotion with good money and marketing behind it plus a push for more events in the west. I love MMA too but its better to keep the sports separate. They're differently paced and it feels weird watching the back and forth. Kickboxing needs to go too. Seems like its only there because certain fighters don't want to fight under a more complete form of striking.

Herb Dean looks about as excited as I am to see yet another fighter from Dagestan (=_=) versus Auld Lang Syne. I feel his pain. Auld Lang Syne feels some too as he is endlessly laid on and finally TKO'd. The sweaty Russian guy celebrates and wants Malykhin. Boy am I glad I cannot smell him.
Why is Chatri out here on the mic with Chilson? Go away you weirdo. Even Dana White doesn't hang out with Joe Rogan during broadcasts.
Next we have Liam Harrison against Sek "The Beach" San. He proceeds to elbow Harrison in the face From Here to Eternity. Easy round one stoppage.
And the main event... well, Haggerty's reign was fun while it lasted. Really disappointing showing from him, and if you blinked or fast-forwarded by the interminable prelude, you missed it. This event started with a boom and ended with more of a fart.

The counter to British/Western fighters swinging power shots from the first bell is those nasty elbows. Unfortunately for Haggerty he was up against one of the best if not the best elbow merchant in sport.
It's faster to deliver an elbow to your opponents face with your elbows already up in a guarded position than swinging from the hip to try and land a punch. Which also opens up your defence as you are trying to land it. It's the hard counter to these boxing heavy fighters. The Scottish juiced up guy KOing everyone is going to find this out as soon as he steps up a level.
