In all honesty, at this point Jon has shown himself to be a mentally unstable and reckless person.

Speculating on whether the UFC knew all about the case or not. And if they cared.

Previously I wrote that if UFC wanted Jon to retire over this - "why wait 4 months???"

But now I'm starting to think the UFC might not have known the case details before the police reports and videos were released.
Prior to the videos the case wasn't entirely clear to me, but after the videos I'm convinced Jon is the driver.

The UFC generally does not care about crime (I think Dana said he didn't care about the result of Conor's rape case) but perhaps they figured now after seeing the videos this would be a major distraction for Jon and in combination with his disinterest to fight, it was time to cut ties.

The reason they dragged it out may be that they were planning to make a proper announcement at some later date, but decided to do it earlier since the media was gonna get the police cam videos this week.
Ariel even argues on his show that he feels they should've waited and kept the retirement a secret so they could make a big announcement an event where Dana could hand Tom the belt.
