Media O'Malley comes to embarrassing realization about appearance

Sean became a pro fighter at 20 years old, joined the UFC at 22. He's not an academic, physician or school counselor. He's a guy who's been cage fighting since he was a teenager.

In the process he became a self-made multimillionaire - in a sport that casts many out with broken bodies and little to show for it.

I get that Sean looks and sounds polarizing to many, but in long format interviews he comes off fairly based with a good head on his shoulders. He developed his brand and revenue outside of fighting, owns many properties and investments, seems to have been thoughtful about it all.

Growth is healthy, so is change. Jon Jones looks the same as he did 20 years ago and he's still the same rotten narcissist he was all along.

Good on Sean.
That's fine & I'm happy for him in that regard as well, but just seems like something that is obvious to 99% of people.

It's like every vice, fine in moderation. If smoking weed becomes your whole persona, however, then that's probably a sign you need to heavily moderate.
I could be the biggest alcoholic ever. I just love drinking beer. I could drink 8 beers a day no problem. When I have alcohol, I really can't prevent myself from drinking it.

I solve this problem by literally never buying it. I can control myself from buying beer/liquor at the store, thankfully.

Hopefully guys like Nick Diaz find ways to avoid weed if it's a problem for them.

Next thing you know, he'll quit MMA, get a university degree and find a proper job like a data analyst in IBM. ;)
He'll actually be looking down at people who like MMA.

It was all an act to promote himself and advance quickly through the ranks. However, that only gets your so far. Seems like he's been humbled and realized that he may not be as good as he thought he was.

It's not a false argument, it's a valid one. Yes the woman who sells her pussy is probably gonna rake in more money than the one who works the cashier at your local supermarket, but she will also rightfully get shamed for it and ignored by any self respecting man if she ever wants anything serious.

Every single fighter on the UFC roster "busted their ass" to be there, but most didn't get the same push that Sean did because they didn't just embrace whatever gimmick might get them more money.

I'll tip the cap for all the times he put on a good fight, but tipping the cap to someone cause they're made money and have a lot of social media followers is ghey, what kind of grown man is impressed by that, that's a teenage girl mentality.
They busted their ass training but they didn't market themselves the same way. Has nothing to do with social media followers lol. He caught lightning in a bottle because he has an exciting style. None of the funny YT skits or looking unique would matter if he wasn't putting on fun fights.

You seem upset. Its not that serious.

lol this Ricky Bobby ass mentality fans have if you aren't first your last. Merab is fantastic I don't think losing to him is some demoralizing horrific event in someone's life. Its not like you got beat the fuck up and sustained a bunch of damage. He got outgrappled lol. He'll live.

There are dozens of fighters with an exciting style, he caught lighting in a bottle because the world is full of simps like you who are impressed by the lamest gimmicks and some ink and hair dye.

At least he has the money to get some tattoos removed. Get a hair cut. Maybe this young man can get his act together. All of his past is just so public, he'll be running from that forever if he makes changes.
I have 1 tattoo and it's something i thought I'd never get tired of and now I'm ehhhh on it. Every other tattoo I ever wanted I now am grateful I never got. These people need to leave their faces alone.
A tattoo or two that is significant to you, looks good and is well placed can be a nice look.

Tattoos all over you, face tats, sleeves, why??

I don't think some ink or hair dye are going to get you that far bud. He has a fun personality to go along with his style and appearance. His goofy appearance might have gotten eyes on him but what good are eyes if you aren't selling yourself from there? You are a complete moron if you think he only got popular because of tattoos, which every fucking fighter has, and his hairstyle. Get real. You cannot possibly believe that.

I don't give a fuck about his appearance, its funny and lame but who cares. I like him as a personality and fighter. Thats how it goes.

Well at least you admit you’re ghey.

Am I the only one who thinks he’s focusing on sideshows - the weed, gaming, looks - instead of looking to grow his MMA arsenal? Instead of worrying about what he might look like, post-fight clarity should be something like “I need to spend 6 months in Dagestan to learn to grapple” or “Heading to Brazil for a year of BJJ”.

Granted, I didn’t watch the entire interview, only the clip. But that plus reading comments here about his abstinances pre-fight really makes me believe that he is penny-wise pound-foolish.

He should look at the big picture: adding to his game to become a better fighter.

Are we just gonna pretend that a lot of his success had nothing do with him delivering highlight reel KOs or what?

All you have to do is be your honest self and people respect you for it. If you can't realize when you're trying too hard, then you're forever a TryHard. It's a desperate and sad look.

If that ever happened then they are fairly forgettable. It's not like his highlight reel is on par with someone like Andy. Go ahead and post though.

Definitely not on par with Silva's, but he was KOing enough people in good fashion that the UFC weren't just going to ignore him. Same sort of situation with someone like Wellmaker if he bodybags another 2-3 opponents the way he has been so far in the UFC.

Also, post what? Sorry, I didn't understand what you meant there.

Don't care how he looks, just no more ridiculous free gifts for a one dimensional fighter

He's had enough gifts for 12 lifetimes already.

Start earning things

Anyway, he's pretty much done at his current weight now.

I was hoping you'd indulge us and post a highlight reel that you personally vetted. I didn't mean to sound angry or anything, it's just that my balls was hot.

Haha. I found one that's not bad. His spin kick one in the first fight is awesome.

A guy fighting the way he was and winning was always going to get a good push from the UFC. They were actually starting to do something similar with one of his victims, Thomas Almeida back in the day. Then he ran into Cody no love. They actually gave him higher profile matches after that trying to get him back on track, but he just kept losing.

Payton Talbott they tried with just recently. But Barcelos ruined that lol.

Wellmaker KOs one more like he has been, and I think he'll get a serious push up.
