Anyone follow them? I know Jake Dietchler from my homestate qualified in Greco. What a stud, the kid just graduated highschool and now he's in the olympics at 145.5.

its amazing when a wrestler qualifies so young, seems like most wrestlers dont hit their prime until their mid-late twenties.

Is this kids that good or is USA wrestling that bad?
I know wrestling isn't touted like it once was.

the kid is that good - USA has the most medals, and most gold medals over any other country in Olympic History. With Russia i think as second place with something like 15 gold medals.. If USA does anything well.. its Wrestling.

It gonna be on tv? I really want to see olympic wrestling and judo. I always miss them when they're on tv though and see the ping pong or woman's water polo instead.

Most of the trials were live on themat.com but I don't think they will be on tv.

NBCOlympics.com did live coverage of the finals Friday Saturday and Sunday.
And the 18 year old Deichtler beat Harry Lester in the semifinals. Harry was the 2006 and 2007 world bronze medalest.
This is in Greco-Roman, which the Americans were the team champions last year. So yeah, the kid's a stud. He also beat a stud from Turkey in the finals who was a three times Turkish champion.

Here is a press conference after the match. The guy on the right was my freestyle coach back when I just a youngun. He put a 7th grader through some mean-ass conditioning.

My hats off to Jake. Way to rep it huge for Minnesota.

Why is my post not showing up right now? But when I go into advanced reply, it shows up in the previous posts?
