Apparently won’t be there for another week or so. Which basically means 2 weeks or possibly less time to acclimate. Is this a mistake?

Khabib claims you need at least 1 month to fully acclimate and I believe islam has already been there for a couple weeks.

Time difference and jet lag bud, he’s traveling half a world away and then immediately cutting weight.
Not to mention different seasons than Brazil. But I am sure a Brazilian summer is closer to a middle eastern fall.

what fans miss is Charles mentioned this as a mistake post the last fight. Lol at him repeating it

Nothing really different except temperature outside. Olives lives in a cooler area of Brazil. I guess it rains more or something.

Pretty sure Khabib pointed out Justin's jet leg as they were fighting haha

Some fighters just know

Khabib has talked about this at length, he claims that for the distance Charles is traveling it takes a long time to adjust to optimize for peak performance and he should be there for at least a month. Khabib has one of the highest IQs in the sport as both a fighter and coach and has both fought & coached in Abu Dhabi numerous times, I trust what he says here.

7 hour difference. Not insane jet lag but worth paying attention to. I used to do that 20 or so times a year. But still would take me 6-7 days to feel completely back to normal. So he should be giving more than a week.

Also worth noting that I never had to cage fight on any 7 hour time difference. Lol

You never had to start cutting weight right after you got off the plane either

Charles will do what charles wants. His reasoning is that he needs to be happy to perform best, and spending too much time away from his family makes him sad and affects his performance, so it is best to limit the time away from home as much as possible.

We don't need to agree with his choice, but he's a big boy and can do what he wants. He's had far more fights away from home than at home, so he knows what he's doing. If he loses, it is because Islam is better. Simple as that

Nobody is denying that he can do what he wants, simply questioning whether that’s the smart move. It makes me question whether he’s truly making every sacrifice possible to get his belt back.

He seems to think that him being homesick has more negative effects on his performance than acclimation issues do. We have no way of knowing if that is true or false in his case.

Agreed.
also, what if he is living the schedule already? I dont think its worth investing much more thought into it either way.
as you said. they are going to fight (or not) and one guy is going to be better. and it wont be because of a plane trip
