No actually. In my opinion Gus is just a good match up because his hands are clearly nicer and more crisp than Jones and he has more power. But Jones has better kicks and more weapons like his elbows.

On the feet they are far more even, and Gus showed great TDD right up until he was taken down. But I knew it was done once Jones actually got him down.

Gus is perceived as someone who was at his best in title fights. Additionally, Jones was coming off a layoff and with all the craziness of this situation with the commission and the movement of the venue, I'm sure there was some degree of speculation as to where he would be mentally.

The fact is Jones has looked very good after long layoffs before and has never seemed to let his troubles outside the cage impact him inside the cage. So yeah I was confident in Jones but I can see why some smelled potential for an upset.

What's impressive to me is that as well as Gus defended the takedowns (which he is known for), Jones managed to put him away as soon as he got one.
