What legal reason was there for him to deny the kid the name change? Judge maybe right or wrong in whether the kid is confused, and will grow out of it. But that's between the kid , the kid's parents and therapists. It isn't the judge's job to determine if the kid is right or wrong.

That's what's really baffling to me. Does @abiG think that the judge denying the name request will make the family come to Jesus or something? Does he think if the judge denied the request to change his name to War Machine, he wouldn't have gone on to nearly kill his pornstar girlfriend?

In my experience Judges are very VERY hesitant to change a kid's name even for extremely valid reasons prior to them turning 18. Dependency cases a kid could be virtually adopted by the family and want to change their last name to match their adoptive family and be 17 and the Judge will deny it until they turn 18 just so that you can then, legally ask, that they are making the request without any outside pressures.

I agree with the judge, finally a judge with some sense. This diagnosis and treatment is from a place that specializes and profits from creating transgender people, by diagnosing gender dysphoria, and then profiting by injecting expensive hormones and other drugs into them often resulting in permanent sterlization . This teen and many others are still finding who they are in life, she may be lesbian and is confused into thinking she is transgender instead , or she may just grow out of this completely. Given time the best decision will be made. It is still too early to tell. Glad this judge is not jumping on the transgender mania bandwagon. Now at least the teen knows she still has a choice. This clinic or whatever they call themselves may be pressuring her into this

It is super easy. Kid at BJJ changed his name because it was the same as his dad who was an ass. He filed a form, finger prints, and run an ad in the official paper. Court hearing was less than five minutes.

I'll add that he was a minor and that the Dad did not give consent (unable to contact him) do the process took an extra 2 weeks to give time for him to respond.

The general public doesn't stand behind "extreme transgender rights" firmly enough, for you to cast your lot. But give it time. With the weak-ass, conformist herd mentality, all of that is subject to change.

The momentum is firmly behind the trans crew, and that bandwagon's only continuing to pick up speed. You'll jump on that wagon, soon enough, once enough "experts" (bought and paid for by the trans lobby) come out and stay that it's all okay, that there's nothing wrong with it.

It should be up to the parents until the child is a legal adult. Whether the kid wants to change their name or not should make no difference. This isn't even a gender issue... names should be a parental right. A legal name is not going to factor in to a child's well-being. The kids can call themselves whatever they want as nicknames.

I'm no legal expert, but I'd say that non-action was proof to the courts that the father was not in his life and failing action, waived his right to non-consent.
