Official Women's Division Discussion #27

I'm laying down the gauntlet. ONE Championship MT fighter Ekaterina Vandaryeva is the most beautiful fighter alive.

Does not sound like she is in this bareknuckle stuff for the long haul. They probably are just paying her more than she can get in Invicta right now. Like I always say this is prize fighting so go to who will pay you the most. It was nice to see her be honest though. I never understood why Bellator never signed her. She would fit in with the pretty girls division.

Yeah it seems that way, especially with Gonzalez being in her mid 30's. She's probably looking to get as many big payday that she can.

I watch lethwei, children in mma/muay thai, and mma promotions that have ties to war criminals/human rights abusers, but something about these bare knuckle boxing shows seems sleazy to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It appears Kana's 'stand stiffly with your chin in the air and block everything with your face' method of standup finally (and rapidly) ran out of road tonight
<{1-11}>
hopefully this spurs her to get some training in at a real gym...

What an odd night, some expected results, and some upsets.

Carmouche swung her ass off with zero technique, and her chin flying high. Props to her for listening to her detractors, it worked with a poor striker, but Velasquez doesn't play that brawling game. It'll be interesting to see if Julianna's takedown defense and clinch game, can compete with Liz's takedowns.

Just like Carmouche, Kolesnyk swung her ass off with her chin up. Unfortunately for her, she fought someone who can actually strike, so she got knocked out. She moved up a weight class, and still managed to miss weight. Really bad look.

What an upset by Morais. I gave her no chance to win that fight, and although it was a split, she managed to beat Young and is going back home on a win. I don't know why Young fell for the head and arm throw a couple of times, she survived Dandois' attempts at taking her down.

As predicted: Harrison, Pacheco, and Fabian are moving on, with Guardado sneaking in silently. They rebooked Harrison vs Fabian, and it all points towards the trilogy for the finals. I don't think Guardado beats Pacheco, she had two tough matchups back to back, and she's getting an even tougher one moving on. Harrison and Pacheco are neck and neck here, it's been fun to watch them compete for bragging rights and "making statements" with 2 first round finishes. I look forward to the trilogy.

The most interesting part of the Kayla fight was when Cindy for a second reversed Kayla and we was about to see how Kayla does from off her back until Kayla said I don't like this position so I will hulk reverse your reverse and end up back on top. That was the Judo Kayla version of Derrick Lewis and his just get up. It was for a split second but that was the 1st time I can remember Kayla's opponent being in a dominant position on her.

The second most interesting part was the brief few seconds of Kayla trying to strike and her kicks looked very bad. I don't think she liked the feeling of doing things she knows she is not good at so she went right into her normal takedown into smash mode.
