Official Women's Division Discussion #27

No surprise Rodriguez is getting the chance. LFA champ, just beat a more experienced fighter in Svetlana Gotsyk by stoppage. Mostly a can crushers, but gotta respect the Gotsyk stoppage.

I’m assuming Ramona is fighting at featherweight because iKon is trying to build opponents for Bella Mir

5’9” vs 5’2” this is about to be comical

edit: looks like the date changed since the original tweet. Updated

I've been high on Valesca Machado (as an atomweight anyway) for awhile. She beat both Julia Polastri & Monique Andriane who are also solid prospects, and then tends to finish people who shouldn't be in there with her.

Ooof. A former Atomweight? Likely to be outsized by the LFA special Rodriguez, who was bigger than fellow strawweight Gotsyk.

She is gonna go the way off Hamderlei and get beat by being outsized by all her opponents, leading to her being released and moving to Asian MMA where she signs with Rizin or ONE.

UFC should just close featherweight and open up atomweight. We all know featherweight was created so Cyborg could fight but she is gone.

Well, she has to get past Rodriguez and get signed first.

I’m not as Gun Ho on UFC opening Atomweight as I used to be. Would it be great to see? Yes. Do I trust UFC to pull it off properly, and not make a mess for the first 2-3 years? Absolutely not. Do I trust them to truly get all the best fighters in the division? No. Ham is already signed to ONE, Hamasaki would likely see no reason to leave RIZIN at this point, and seems intent on building it up, plus she’s too old for the UFC to want her. Minus the age, likewise for Kanna Asakura. We’d be stuck with the UFC trying to sell someone like Alesha Zappitella as the “world’s #1 atomweight.” <Oku02>
