Official Women's Division Discussion #25

Here's the thing. Can we say that Cyborg is a skilled fighter? Absolutely, she's made a ton of improvements in recent years. Is she a great athlete? Once again, yes, though we can debate how natural those attributes are and how we should treat them. Could she beat the fuck out of everyone on the UFC roster thanks to her combination of size, athleticism, and skills? Most likely.

But that doesn't change the fact that she's got a good 15-20lbs on everyone else, nor the fact that her resume is filled with cans & journeyman fighters. If she wants to prove she's the best she can come down to 135, but that's not going to happen since she refuses to compete without a massive physical advantage. And as long as she continues this way her legacy will be questionable at best. And that's not even bringing the PEDs and scale tampering into consideration.

If the differences are compared the only major difference between a
Bantamweight & Featherweight is walking weight (165 lbs vs 180 lbs)
but other then that both are similar in the fact that they cut upwards of
30 lbs of weight.

Is Rose hurt or something? I give her credit for the rematch, but she should be fighting soon if she's not hurt.

Rose is out indefinitely with a neck injury. Some reports say she fractured her neck, other say it was some kind of compression injury, either way, she ended up with spinal stenosis and is out for the foreseeable future.

On a random note. Jessica Penne should have been done with her suspension for awhile now. There is still no news about her being booked for a fight. I wonder what is going on.

That's not a reasonable opinion at all. You really, REALLY think she was killing herself to make 135 to "hold" some physical advantage? You believe she has a realistic choice in that matter? Unbelievable. Delusional shit, to be honest. She will never make 135, she can't, it's not that she doesn't want to. Simple as that.

We will have to agree on disagree when it comes to Cyborg, clearly this isn't going anywhere.

Some smart strawweight should start pulling a Shevchenko and demand she vacate if she’s not gonna defend any time soon. Six months and no defense on the horizon? Not an active champ.

For fucks sake. Thanks aerius.

If you can't or don't defend a belt in a year that shit needs to be vacated.... 115 could be a lot of fun if there's blood in the water though.... lots of dangerous sharks out there.

Especially if Joanna stays at 125. Which she should, and better..... fuck superfights. If you move up, you move up for good.

115 and 125 are going to be good for a long time.... despite the shitshow beginning of the 125lb title. That division needs this title fight to legitimize it.

How does everyone think Aspen Ladd would be at 145lb, she did miss weight by 6lbs against Smith, and the way she smashed Evinger makes me feel she'd be a real threat to Cyborg. Maybe a title eliminator vs cat/Megan winner or Holm 1st.

No thanks... she just needs to get her shit under control and concentrate on taking over 135. 145 is a deadass division, and she'll run into the same problem Cyborg has.... there's nobody to fight.

You beat me to it.

she previously fought at 125 and tbh she's not that big, she just seem a bit uneducated about weight cutting, i think it's a matter of learning through complications, but yeah if she misses again UFC should go something, her situation is always, hm.. concerning

I like that Sarah is getting some recognition and a little promotion from the UFC. It might be a small video but its a start. Hopefully she has a good performance.

She has 2 names on her resume that are actually worth anything.

Absurd. Coenen, Carano, Holm, Evinger, Yana.. you're just another lame hater, sorry.

So two then.... :D

Coenen is a legend of the sport, but ultimately she lost when it mattered, and lost to some names people dont rank that highly, Modafferi, Dandois. Shes a trailblazer and legend of the sport, but her resume wasnt that great. Gina, was a babe and another trailblazer, but lets be honest, she didnt really face anyone prior to cyborg.

Holm, looked great against Rousey, pretty average since. The Cyborg fight was actually one of her best performances and thats by far Cyborgs best win.

Evinger, Yana? Nah, not for me, top 10 fighters but thats it.

I really hope she leaves the UFC in teh spring, goes to Bellator and fights Budd. At least then women have a true featherweight champion.

Hey guys, sorry I didn't mention it earlier, but just finished up the 4th of what will be my regular wekly live streams. I've decided that Tuesdays at 9:30pm EST will be my regular broadcasting time from now on.AFAIK, that won't interfere with any other MMA shows. So, episode 4 is now up. Not much to it, as it's been a slow week, but please give it a watch and a thumbs up if you get some time.

Is there a reason why you don't have a link or even mention the name of the podcast in your sig or avatar? Why make it so difficult to find?

Damn, good point. I guess I had talked about it so much in the past, the majority in here had at least visited it once. I'll put the link in my signature.

Celine Haga (10-15) will be fighting Kali Robbins (5-2) at JacksonWink Fight Night 4 in Albuquerque, NM on November 30th. Celine fought at the last JacksonWink show and lost against recent UFC signee Hannah Cifers. Most recently she was involved in the SCL Queen of Sparta Tournament where she lost a boxing match to Heather Denny and lost a muay thai match for Kathryn Paprocki in the same night. Celine has had a rough 2018 but has the change to turn it all around against Robbins. Robbins is also on a losing streak and is also coming off an MMA loss to Hannah Cifers. Earlier in the year she was also defeated by Pearl Gonzalez. Previous to that, she had never lost a fight in her pro or amateur career. I'm looking forward to this fight. Both of these women are fan favorites in their regions.
