Official Women's Division Discussion #25

Joanna has more fights at flyweight than Eubanks does.

I was referring to the UFC flyweight title...How many fights at flyweight for JJ in the UFC? When was her last fight at that weight?

No, this is what you said "At least two actual flyweights will fight for the title. Perhaps JJ took my advice and decided to stay in straw weight." You were clearly implying that Joanna is not actually a flyweight. All I am doing is pointing out to you that Joanna is more of a flyweight than Sijara is. Sijara is 1 - 1 at 125 with a missed weight on her record. Joanna is 6 - 0 at 125 without ever missing weight. She only went down to 115 to get more money since the UFC did not have 125 until now.

Perhaps the UFC has learned from their mistakes and will now always have a back-up plan for each main event...maybe Andrade-Namajunas and JJ-Suarez on the same card?

Maybe one day it will rain Dortmunder.

Mallory Martin is fighting Japanese Izabela Badurek (Ayaka Miura) next.

That is what really makes seeing JJ 125 much more interesting than trying to figure out sensible fights for her (that aren't rematches of clear victories or clear losses). It would be mostly fresh opponents, a different (maybe even better, considering the cuts of late) weightclass etc. And yeah, I think she's as much a "real" 125'er as she is a 115'er... Hopefully if she really does move to 125, it would be permanent even on a loss. Nothing interesting in 115 for her anymore.

Also, doublepost but who cares...

Where the hell is Rin?

It'll be interesting to see if Joanna stays on the Toronto card and if so who she fights and at what weight. For the UFC her only role at 115 is to either aid or hinder the rise of Tatiana. At 125 she could fight a contender to justify a matchup with Val on one of the big ESPN cards - I'm assuming Val beats Eubanks.

The thing is the UFC have already justified that 125 matchup by booking it at 231. Financially and in terms of her profile back in Poland Joanna doesn't need the UFC anymore and their recent actions have broken the bond of trust that made her the company girl par excellence. I wouldn't be surprised if JJ just sits out and waits for a title fight, either against a new champ at 115 or the winner of 230.

For those who don't know Invicta Featherweight Allison Schmidt is fighting
breast cancer and could use well wishes. If anyone cares to pass on a few
encouraging words or well wishes can do so on her Instagram page at the

Well, fuck.

Not smart to lose the trust of a company man.

Anyone notice the wmma today podcast has been absent the last 2 weeks?

Nope.

And no. However lame some of JJ's comments about losing were, she has bent over backwards to help out the UFC and done whatever was asked of her. This sends a shitty message to everyone.

Totally agree. UFC has treated JJ like crap in this entire episode.

Apparently, according to Helwani, if either fighter fails to make it to the fight on November 3rd, Chookagian is the backup.

Question is, if either fighter backs out, do they ever get a sniff at another title shot?

This whole thing is beyond the call of duty on retardedness, I have really hard time convincing myself this is not all just shenanigans to get something else done and JJ/Shev being reinstated. But maybe I should just accept that they CAN and WILL be this stupid. EUBANKS getting a title shot? Angering JJ for no reason?

In other news, this pic gives me great hope:

There are absolutely no negatives about this happening.

Thanks Mittens. Yes, Alexa Grasso training with Henry Cejudo - that's awesome. Really cool when dedicated people from different places train together. Glad to be reminded of this aspect of mma - positive interactions based on shared love for mixed martial arts.
