Official Women's Division Discussion #25

This is bullshit, but at the same time hilarious that Valentina's going up against another fighter with documented weight-cut issues

OK, I would consider myself a huge WMMA fan to the point where I care more about it more than 90% of Mens MMA. This fight does absolutely nothing for me. You had a great fight and you tear it apart for this crap? Then you make it headline MSG? Sijara is about to headline an MSG card. can you believe this crap? This is literally the 1st time where I am starting to think the UFC is really dying. Just have Nate headline the damn card and stop sticking to PPVs being headlined by Title fights. Not only did you ruin the MSG card you ruined the Toronto card. F the UFC for this BS.

Soon you will all see what I have seen for about 2 years now. haha. (Better have Roxy on standby again for when Sarj misses weight... haha)

I'm just thankful the Ladd/Evinger fight isn't on the PPV this weekend.... not missing that fight.

I don’t think Sarj will be having anymore weight cut issues. Seems training with Alvarez, Edgar, et. al has helped her get her weight under control, according to what she said ahead of her last fight. Basically completely changed up her training regimen, and she doesn’t keep as much muscle on as she used to, and runs a lot mor.

I went from shock to anger to puzzlement to laughter in about 10 seconds. The only thing that could make this even more hilarious is if Eubanks wins.

I'll watch. I just enjoy seeing fights & don't get too stressed about who is fighting who.

Victoria Leonardo (2-1) will be fighting Monica Medina (3-2) for Gulf Coast MMA on October 20th in Biloxi, Mississippi. This will be Leonardo's fight fight since losing to Miranda Maverick by Armbar for Invicta last month. Medina was last seen losing to Tracy Cortez at V3 Fights 69 in June.

So this happened in Brazil over the weekend....

Less of a downer

Hot.
BTW, This is further proof that Lee is anything but an atomweight, "hydrated" or not.

Weekend results:
Strawweight: Denice Zamboange def Eun-Bi Cho by rd 2 TKO link
Flyweight Championship: Ji-Yeon Seo def Geli Bulaong by rd 1 submission (triangle choke) link

Ji-Yeon Seo (6-2) becomes a (regional) champion at just 17 yrs old.

Also, she already has her next fight booked, a rematch against Ye-Dam Seo. Ye-Dam won last time out in March 2017, when they were both 1-0.

New future stars column is up. Autumn Gordon went from BJJ championships to wrestling ones and will be going to MMA after her wrestling career is over. Planning on being at atomweight.

Will have articles up from Tecia Torres and Janay Harding later this week

Cool quote from the interview:
A. G.: 'My friend Sydney Frank was always there. She called me Chuck Norris because he was why I started. She thought it was the coolest thing ever that one of her best friends, who was a girl, could fight. To this day, I still don’t think she realizes how much that meant to me and still does.'

FCF 56 takes place this weekend in Shawnee, Oklahoma. It's currently an all female card headlined by a Flyweight title fight between Jessica Middleton (4-4) and Calie Cutler (6-5). In addition to that, Brenda Gonzales (8-4) and Tamikka Brents (2-3) are fighting for the Bantamweight title. I wasn't aware Brents could make Bantamweight. Rounding out the pro fights are Erica Torres (2-5) vs Katie Teehee (0-0) and Kaytlin Neal (1-3) vs. Candice Maricle (1-2).

Also this weekend at Art of War CF 8 is an amateur Strawweight title fight between Kristi Garr (3-0) and Criszaida Adame (4-0). Both are top prospects in their respective regions. Garr is originally from Pennsylvania but has lived in Michigan for many years. She is an elite wrestler who is a main training partner of Alesha Zappitella and Amanda Cooper at Scorpion Fighting System. Alesha and Kristi head up their women's wrestling program. This will be her first time fighting at home. Adame trains out of Martinez BJJ in Philadelphia. Both are undefeated and look like they could make some noise when they go pro.

At least two actual flyweights will fight for the title. Perhaps JJ took my advice and decided to stay in straw weight. Maybe she has another fight lined up. Perhaps the UFC has learned from their mistakes and will now always have a back-up plan for each main event...maybe Andrade-Namajunas and JJ-Suarez on the same card?

Joanna has more fights at flyweight than Eubanks does.

Great, so instead of getting to fight her archenemy for the title in her natural weight class, Joanna has to settle for potentially derailing one of her former division's rising stars. All because the company she has a loyal soldier to is completely inept at booking fights.

I think they did it because Joanna is not ready for UFC 230 and they're desperate for headliner...

You don't really believe that anyone in UFC favors Eubanks over Joanna, do you?

Rose is Joanna’s archenemy right now more than Valentina is. Honestly, I believe the fans care more about those 10 year old Amateur Muay Thai fights than either fighter does at this point.
