I totally understand your point but i strongly disagree, yes entertainment is a big part of this business but it's a sport at the end of the day, to some fighters the ultimate goal is to win and to get that belt, you can't expect everyone to be exciting in the process and you really can't punish people (cutting them from the roster) for not doing what would, more likely, get them to lose just to provide exciting moments for fans.

Maybe remove the win-bonus part of their contract so they can fight without so much pressure and get paid "well" win or lose, but fighters like Budd and Taylor have a effective style to some extent and this is part of the game. In order to keep it a legitimate sport, that's something you have to afford.

I'm not a fan of these 2, actually their style is a big reason to why i want to watch them fight again and lose, like the Mayweather thing, the problem is if they get a opponent that doesn't really offer them many risks like Blencowe. Them i'm not that interested, against Talita Nogueira on the other hand will be a very interesting match and i'm looking forward to. I could end up being disappointed, ofc.

I didn't even know she was still fighting. Carina's been at it a long time and been through a lot (good and bad). She took some beatings over the years, so I'm impressed she is still competing.

A pic of Damm's last weigh in and opponent from last year. Damm had a good first minute of the first round, bloodying her opponent's nose with an aggressive blitz. Damm also had about another rally in the second (if I remember correctly) after Jessy Jess made a mistake in her clinch fighting with Damm against the fence. Damm took advantage to take Jess's back for around two minutes and change. Otherwise Damm had trouble against Jessica Rose-Clark, her striking technique was not up to Jess's suffering debilitating leg strikes and getting busted up. Jess also mostly controlled the clinch fighting but Damm did manage to get it into clinches when she needed it to as she was struggling by the end of the third round, keep her from getting finished likely.

Damm was limping off the mat by the end. She fought hard and it is interesting to see her take another fight. Tough woman. *

In the end Jess Jessy won by split decision but one of the judges clearly was not going by what happened in the fight. I think the one judge scored it 29-28 for Damm. I'd have to double check that though. (Edit Checked)

I have been waiting to see who Kobold's opponent would be. Katy Collins. I had some hope Shannon Sinn would get that fight but with her recent fight, and win, over Heather Bassett I figured that would not happen.

Sinn has looked sharp in her last two fights.

Yeah, I was also trying to stay away from her more controversial moments. :)

Damm was one of the first fighters to get a lot of credit/slack (depending on who was talking) about her looks. Many thought she was in it for short-term exposure and fame. But, I think she has kind of proven herself by staying in the game so long. And, she certainly hasn't shied away from tough fights (Remember that beating she took from Cat?!)

Damm did take some tough fights. She was given a fair bit of guff for fighting weak opponents after taking losses like the one Cat Zingano gave her. Not an uncommon practice but Damm take it to another level.

Agreed on her taking the sexy fighter girl route. She is Brazilian and she needed to pay the bills. That is not uncommon for female fighters either. At least she managed to make more money from her fighting and related activities then most women of that time period. Much like Felice Herrig.

Many are calling Valentina Shevchenko the uncrowned champion in the UFC women’s flyweight division, but she refuses to acknowledge that title.

Just days away from her official debut at 125 pounds at UFC Fight Night in Brazil on Saturday, Shevchenko is anxious to kick off her career in the new weight class, where she will be a heavy favorite to challenge for the championship if she gets past newcomer Priscila Cachoeira this weekend.

If she’s victorious, there’s a good chance Shevchenko could find herself facing off with current flyweight champion Nicco Montano, who won the title after competing on this past season of “The Ultimate Fighter” that helped launch the women’s 125-pound division.

Montano didn’t have an easy path to the title, as she took out several established veterans including former Invicta FC flyweight champion Barb Honchak, UFC veteran Lauren Murphy, and top-ranked contender Roxanne Modafferi.

There were still criticisms that Montano wasn’t forced to face some of the fighters who would be considered elite flyweights in the UFC, such as Shevchenko, but don’t count her as one of those detractors.

Shevchenko absolutely considers Montano the real and deserving champion after what she did on the reality show, which was capped off by her win over Modafferi that crowned her the inaugural UFC women’s flyweight queen.

nothin against montano, but shes just keeping the seat warm , it will be shevchenko's or maia's by the end of the year

This is outstanding. Hadn't realized Kanna Asakura went and trained with Megumi Fujii. Love the RENA footage as well. Also the funny commercial featuring Reina and RENA. It's a must see.

Shev demonstrating the warrior spirit. Respect. Look forward to her 125 debut Saturday. It will help us forget last weekend's snooze fest.
 
Grace Cleveland is training at Fairtex with Stamp, and British thai boxer Chloe Cooke.




If Fairtex is getting serious about a women's mma team, it'd probably be the destination gym. Even compared to newer fancy gyms like AKA Thailand/Tiger Muay Thai/Phuket TT, Fairtex Training Center's facilities are exceptionally grand (and in multiple locations).
