Do most sports games feature in-game renders on the cover like this? Each preceding cover (THQ and EA) doesn't feature what the cover athlete looks like in-game.

Yes that's right, and Volk especially the in game likeness isn't exactly spot on. Looks like a slightly different, nerdier version of Volkanovski.

I would assume this was decided before she lost to Grasso but I could be wrong

Agreed. I have to wonder if they had this cover already printed like a year ago and didn't want to change it

AND/OR

if they wanted someone else on the cover but that fighter refused (or asked for more money) and UFC didn't want to strong-arm them (like they did to AKA guys back in the day) because of the ongoing class-action lawsuit.

It does make me wonder who hires these people, how does a room of people approve this, and not one turns around and goes "guys this looks whack." a photoshoot of Shevchenko/Volk (like they did for Adesanya and Masvidal) would have looked way cleaner.
