Official Titanfall Thread

Good games again last night guys. I fuckin suck at this game right now though. Holdin yall back :(

Now that I've played for a few hours in addition to several hours on the beta I'll give my thoughts as someone who was so hyped for this game that I got an Xbone.

Cutting right to the point I am disappointed by this game, though it may be due to my own irrational expectations. I was expecting to get the next premier FPS/MP experience and what I got was a good, fun game that really fails to separate itself from existing stalwarts.

Titanfall does some things very well. The ease at which you can get from point A to B is virtually unmatched in any other FPS. When you are on a roll you feel like a tornado of destruction just running, jumping, flying and wall running over the map. Then you seamlessly enter your Titan and wreak hell. It feels very empowering and exhilarating.

In Titanfall you come for the Titans but stay for...the Titans. Aside from hard-point game modes you are basically farming bots until you get your Titan. Titan warfare is where you get a little bit of play style flexibility, but not much. It's basically Slow/Sturdy - Average - Fast/Flimsy with some minor tweaks to offer each class. I love how seamless the transition is from pilot to titan. They really nailed the exhilarating feel of non-stop action.

Unfortunately that's about where my praise for the game ends and my nitpicking starts to rear it's ugly head. My biggest complaint with this game is that it feels very basic. For a game that is relying 100% on MP I really expected a ton of content and deep customization. Even by "twitch" shooter standards Titan Fall is on crack. The sheer speed at which things take place and how quickly you can (and must) move really kind of mushes everything together. I don't really feel like I'm playing any differently using a DMR, Shotgun, Pistol or Assault Rifle...it always turns into running and gunning because you literally cannot sit still in this game for more than a few seconds.

This problem is kind of infectious to other areas like game modes and co-op strategy. Titanfall gives you only a few game modes, but none of them really feel like much of a different experience. I prefer some to others and all to Attrition, but you never really feel like you are getting a new experience. It's the same feel with a slightly different objective or a use for the other perk or two you haven't been using. I've been playing with randoms but the need for strategy just doesn't feel like its there because the pace of the game is so fast and the game modes really don't require it.

Overall the game is fun and exhilarating but I have some doubts about how long the community will be participating in this game. When you compare it to a game like Battlefield 4 that offers so much room for versatility and customization this game really feels like a shallow quick thrill. Titanfall is a great one night stand but Battlefield is who you marry.

I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10.

No I suck too. We just need to level up a little more to be able to hang especially in a game mode like Last Titan Standing.

I'm pretty sure I was the first one to lose my Titan in almost every game we played last night. I did better when we stayed in a big group.

A lot if what you said is exactly what I was afraid would happen. It's very hard for online shooters to keep my interest because they are so repetitive.

The good thing is that a lot out your complaints can be fixed through patches/DLC.

Absolutely fair points. I agree that the game modes should have been something creative and completely different. Maybe something like Killzone, where the game mode changes every few minutes...maybe the "Campaign" mode was supposed to be that? Dunno. There definitely should be something else besides your standard Deathmatch and Domination modes though.

Fijeeto i didn't see your invite until I was already done for the night (you get so many damn achievements in this game I ignored the notice thinking it was just another). I'll be down to play next time.

Okay. The party system on the X1 is kind of confusing and troublesome to use. I wish they would have kept it like the 360's.

Its all good, guys. I suck at Attrition and am useless at CTF. And after playing for hours and hours... I can honestly say that I couldn't give two shits whether I win or lose in Titanfall. Most games like FIFA, Halo, BF, and Gears make me angry when my team doesn't obtain victory, but Titanfall is so damn fun I don't even care where I am on the leaderboard or if we're the losing side.

Don't get me wrong... I love to win, but losing in TF doesn't seem to bother me as much as other multiplayer games.

When I finished playing last night I asked myself whether I liked this more than Shadow Fall and I honestly don't know right now. It does some things WAY better than SF, but it also fails to provide some of the fun KZ does as well.

I suppose it's not fair to compare it to other shooters but, as I said before, my expectations were so high that I truly thought it would be my favorite FPS experience and after being slightly disappointed with SF I thought Titanfall would destroy it.

I'm going to put my fair share of hours in this game and maybe I'll discover some more complexity after unlocking everything and the player base getting more experience but as of now I have to say that Titanfall has not delivered for me.

I'll be on at some point tonight if you guys need another player.

they need more infantry weapons, hell there aren't many weapons for anything

This game met my expectations and then some.

I played last night and had an absolute blast. The thrill of seeing my Titanfall drop down never gets old. :icon_chee

9/10
The only downside is the lack of weapons and Titans but I'm sure that'll be fixed in future patches and DLC. Besides I tend to use one weapon all the time anyway in FPS games so only having the one carbine isn't a big deal to me.

If anyone is trying to get some Titanfall in tonight before heading out lmk.

I'm on now. Gonna take a break to do some quick cleaning here in about 30 mins.

Then I'll be on from about 5:30-9ish

cant STOP six4

I agree with this. Another two per class would be nice. Not sure if we'll see that added though

they don't have many titian weapons either...you think you could get better creative when it comes to mechs ya know?

i mean shit front mission, Armoured core they have shit loads of weapons. i understand they're trying to be unique an not copy but fuck

then again wanzers are more advanced then the mechs in titty falls 5

I'll always have my hopes that we'll get a true Steel Battalion sequel/remake with the badass controller.

The last sidearm you get the six shooter IS BOSS, i love that thing it looks cool and works so well for me.

I find I am all over the place when i play in 6 games i will have 2 where I am the top guy and I split wins on it and the other 3 games go from last place to middle tier.

I like that they dont have a shit ton of weapons yet give us time to master all that they have and use the unlocks for them to help change the way you play with them before you overflow the market.

Just got the game i'll be on in a little while. Add me sherbros. GT= WAT IZ JUICE

The small amount of guns doesn't really bother me that much, I think its because I play a lot of red orchestra 2 where you are very limited on what weapons you can use since there are limited class slots like 2-3 LMGs, 2-3 sub machine guns, 1 sniper rifle per team.

Just picked up my Xbox one Titanfall edition console bundle, been looking forward to this all week.
