I think the reality of it being more popular than most fight night PBPs is going to be genuinely unsettling for some of this community.

I haven't wanted to not watch something (but ruthlessly shit on that same thing while not watching it) this strongly in years. Maybe my entire life. I think most of us feel the same way.

They're different kinds of risks. Dana is risking a lot of money on this enterprise, but none of his health. The slappers are risking their health, but none of their money.

What's his opinion on boxing? Repeated blows in sparring is much much worse than these guys getting slapped a few times
You could find the answer if you really cared. His credentials are impeccable.

“Chris Nowinski, who is co-founder and executive director of the Sports Legacy Institute (SLI), a non-profit organization dedicated to solving the sports concussion crisis through education, policy, and research. Nowinski also serves as co-director of the Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy (BU CSTE).

Chris also serves as an adviser on the NFL Players Association Mackey-White Traumatic Brain Injury Committee, the Ivy League Multi-Sport Concussion Committee, South African Rugby Union Concussion Working Group, and as a consultant to Major League Lacrosse. He is a Ph.D candidate in Behavioral Neuroscience at Boston University School of Medicine.”

DC is a total shill for the company and i'm not here for it. He's become pretty insufferable since retiring. Also I get the concept of this slap fighting, Dana likes to do these fake over-reactions every time someone hurts hurt where he almost falls out of his chair and goes "ohhhhh" or stands up with his face all red. So rather than wait for those to happen maybe a few times in a MMA card, they now have a thing where guys will get hurt every single match and they can generate all the fake viral reactions they want to the point where it means nothing.

How do you make a living aka money without health?
If it flops it’s a business loss and lowers his taxable income (if he’s even the principle investor and not just a face). What’s their alternative?

the slap fighting thing is easily the worst thing dana etc have been involved with. worse idea than cm punk or the reebok deal. but rest assured, slap fighting will be gone in a matter of months and we'll never hear about it again. thank god

Maybe they can get a real job if they don't want to get hit in the head for money? It works for all the rest of us.

I have not heard a single person excited for this. If anything, the overwhelming majority seem to find this barbaric and idiotic to a maddening degree. With Dana's recent antics, on top of the very nature of the thing, there is sure to be a lot of bad press from the getgo as well.

So the question is: is Slap Fighting dead upon arrival?

Sherdog holds a Fight Circus play by play. I think they had a royal rumble match, a inter-gender bout and a 2-on-1 during their last event.

Sherdoggers clutching their pearls has made me root for this thing. Although I doubt I can feign interest after tonight. I have no real interest in this thing besides maybe a few GIFable slaps that I can laugh at later. I just want to see the circus and Sherdoggers cry aboot it.

So it’s easier to reply with this irrelevant point than answer my question?don’t conflate an investment loss with loss of health, Einstein. I’m sure you complain at your job, so miss me with making it personal. No one asked about “the rest of us”.
