Multiplat Official Remnant II Discussion

This game is so much fun, just played for 6 hours straight and the time disappeared.

Took down a couple of bosses with a team of randoms, still trying to get my bearings. Still on the first world.

I've bought simulacrum from a vendor for 1500 scrap, not sure if this was a wise choice but needed to upgrade the estus flask.

Can you get a second archetype? Sure I read this a few days ago, I started as the challenger.

Yes, you can unlock a second active archetype when you hit level 10. You have to find a specific item to have it crafted, then you can equip it. Like you buy the medic pin will unlock the medic archetype. There are a few items in Ward 13 and others found in the field.

Once you get an archetype to max level, it unlocks their core skill as a trait. So you can have the Gunslinger and Challenger as your active archetypes, but then equip the medic Triage trait.

Your archetype skills are also tied to the quality of the relic shards you find. When you start out with a single archetype, all of the relic shards are "cracked", but as you max out multiple classes you start to get better quality shards.

Excellent thanks, that answered some stuff I was wondering about.

So here's my detailed review:

I'm having a great time.

Thanks to @Dinkin_Flicka for putting the enigma gun on my radar. It really does change the way you play

My build is centered around it, so will be really bummed when they nerf it.

The range is quite limited so using the hunter Trait to boost an additional 6m and the Targeting Jewel ring that adds 4m weapon range. There is a Fae Hunter Ring that adds 30% to range, but testing it at the shooting gallery it didn't seem to boost the range of the Enigma. Also added the Amplitude trait that adds 50% to AoE abilities boosting the arc jump from 7.5m up to 11.2m.

Using the Shock Device that is a specific drop in the Asylum in Losman that adds 20% shock damage and 50% Overload. Also use the Grounding Stone ring bought in Ward 13 for an additional 10% shock damage.

Found mutation called the Extender that when I leveled it up to +10, it boosted the mag capacity (40%) from 30 to 42 and 15% reload speed.

I watched the IGN review and this game looks absolutely bonkers. Great graphics, level design, boss fights, everything. Damn near a masterpiece.

I just ran through From the Ashes. It was free on PSN a while back glad i snagged it. I did the campaign solo but I joined a few Co-Op games to farm scrap to upgrade my epic Beam gun. The areas and portals are awesome. I'm better at this type of game compared to souls games because this has epic rifle shooting.

Got Remnant 2 coming in Monday, but can only play a 1-2 hours a day during weekdays if I'm lucky.

Beat the first world boss, went into adventure mode and found the +50% scrap ring straight away. Was hoping to get it rapid as soon as I knew it existed.

@GearSolidMetal I have the first game, it just seems kinda bad lol I'm still in the tutorial and am already put off having to find NPCs in the base

Im about 2 hours in and I’m enjoying the first one so far. Was surprised to see difficulty settings on a souls like but I just left it at normal.

I enjoyed the first one and was pretty good at it. I will give this a shot.

Made it to the last boss. First phase was really cool, took a few tries to get the timing down. Burned most of my heals getting him down not knowing there was a second phase. Second phase starts and it's a big WTF shift and die right away. Take down the first phase with minimal damage and make it second phase with most of my consumables. It's just and assault on my vision and I just can't get my bearings, end up dying again pretty quick. Had to make dinner for the kids, so hoping to take him down tomorrow.

Beat the final boss this morning, holy hell is the last boss a pain. Super disorienting as the battle field shifts around through the fight so it's hard to get to get your bearings.

Cleaning up a few things before I start a nightmare run. Last boss weapon is a charge rifle called Alpha/Omega. The charge is pretty slow for a primary weapon, and it doesn't fire on release, but fires every few seconds as you hold down the trigger, so it seams it could be difficult to get precision shots. I have a mutation that reduces charge weapons and hunting for a ring that does the same. When maxed it looks like it should reduce charge time by 55%. That's pretty significant, so hoping it increases the fire rate quite a bit since it's pretty high shot damage and a beastly mod attached.

This gun right here.

Please do not sleep on this gun. The mod on it is CRAZY.

Haven't came across this yet, seen a few people I've teamed up with use it though.

Currently using the bonesaw lmg and the cube gun.

Cube gun is cool is doesn't need ammo the projectiles return to you I've put a mutator on it which returns ammo to the mag so it just keeps firing sometimes, pretty good so far.

Loving the summoner archetype, paired it with a ring that gives you health back when your summons hit enemies, basically constantly getting health back with that and the regen trait.

Nice.

This is a game that does encourage several playthroughs- and the developers were kind of enough to provide a simple mechanism to do it and explore as much as possible. I say that because I'm interested in other archetypes.

I started off as the Hunter.. and gotta admit it was rough in the beginning.
Started on Veteran
Started off in Losomn Morrow Parish- by the time I got to Cotton Kiln where enemies set themselves on fire I was having a hard time
Didn't have great weapons or health regen capabilities so it was difficult to be successful.
I rerolled the campaign to start off in Nerud and found much more success. Unlocked the Handler Archetype, kept it as my 2nd and have been doing great since.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd start with the Handler. Don't get me wrong the Hunter is great, but the Handler offers some great support when you don't have many upgrades and weapons in the beginning.

Also, that dog is SUCH A GOOD BOY. I found myself going full John Wick in some instances where he was in danger.

Yeah, this gun is nuts. Use the Enigma is my main, and this is my secondary. Everytime I hear the chime of an elite mob, I switch over and throw on the Dreadwalker mod and absolutely melt them. I haven't played past Vet, but haven'tet an elite yet that this mod doesn't crush in a single go. Can rip through a good chunk of boss life with a cast.

I have a ring that boosts mod Regen when inflicting elemental damage, so when paired with the enigma, it loads the mod power back scary fast.

How far in are you?

In my case I equipped rings that help with passive health regeneration. You may have to reroll your campaign to find a world you can progress in until you get better stuff.

The starting rifle is quite good and can carry you for a good portion of the game, so I do recommend upgrading it.
With the Hunter I have found it's best to get in a good position with tough enemies and pick your shots.
You can get a simulacrum in Ward 13, buy it and use that to get an extra dragon heart
The repeater handgun isn't great but if you find a good mod for it, like the caltrops you can use that to your advantage.
The Hunter's 2nd skill is quite useful in hairy situations.
Last but not least.. get gud

On another note, whos that in your av?

Barbus in Ward 13 sells a bunch of different weapons of the other starter classes. Worth checking out if the starter weapon doesn't suit your play style. The assault rifle he sells is really great (handler starting weapon). There is also free sub machine gun you can get in Ward 13 by opening the locked box in Fords office. The combo is etched into the bottom of your flashlight when you inspect it. There is a key in the box that can be used on a door passed the dock that has the gun. Great side arm for early to mid game.
