Multiplat Official Remnant II Discussion

The more gameplay videos i watch of this the more excited I am to play.

Away for work at the moment but I get home a few days after release, definitely buying this after I finish Alan Wake.

Sounds like you are going to be playing this for a while....

This is my first Souls/Born-like game, but I know their reputation for tough bosses.

That 1st boss was just a pain because of the kamikaze bastards. Right when I was starting to get good momentum..... *BOOM*.... outta nowhere. After the 10th time of getting killed not by the boss I was fighting it was getting annoying.

You're in it now, wanderer. Love hearing your thoughts. Plenty of pucker factor in store as you investigate and fight what's eating up our future Earth. Fun time to be playing as sequel drops next week. Can you play every day right now and at weekend or schedule not allowing?

That's my only big gripe is some of the bosses are more spawn fests than learning the boss mechanics. They're not all like that but the bosses I really struggled with were due to spawns and not the boss itself.

For those who don't get it.. fuck around and you'll find out.

@Valhoven

Played for another 3 hours, beat 2 bosses, and IMHO they were far more fair than the 1st boss.
Those kamikaze bastards were the main issue, and I was so underpowered that they took half my health bar every time they nailed me.

The 2nd boss...

...was tricky until I figured out to target one of his legs, and he became significantly easier after he was crawling around and I targeted his weak point on his back.

The 3rd boss...

...I really enjoyed. I used a fire upgrade on my shotgun and nailed him 3 times with both shots and got his health halfway down before I had to deal with his minions.

Anyway, although I've played 5-ish hours I'm still with my starting set of weapons and armor, but upgraded. I did get the SMG though its DPS is like a 1/3rd of my pistol, so I'm mostly sticking with my pistol. I stopped playing after meeting the 'uncrowned king' or something like that and he sent me on an errand to kill something in a swamp.

I'm getting the feeling I'm going to need a new set of weapons & armor in the very near future so I'm open to suggestions.

I think you're about to descend on an area with high radiation and bleed, so prepare rather with elixirs, bandages than WPNs, armor so we keep you alive. Also, this is a Soulsy part of Remnant because this Undying King is someone with whom you have to make (largely cryptic) decisions and each having consequences. He also never skips leg day so pepper your anus now. On WPNs, hard to remember but you're entering a very cool part of the game. Can you yet craft the Sporebloom shotty? That WPN hits in full beast mode and could be good here if guys close the distance on you; foe will start hitting harder now in forewarning of difficulty spike with upcoming boss, I think.

You know whats interesting? due to the random generative nature of the missions and maps, I never actually ran into that 1st guy you posted a pic of in my first playthrough. It wasn't until I tried out adventure mode way later that he showed up.

In other words, your experience will not be the same as everyone else's.

Deciding whether to get this or Atlas Fallen

Started up and went with the gunslinger class. You can unlock a secondary class and think I'm going to set that as a healer.

Gunplay feels good and took down a boss. Got some upgrades going for my long gun. Only logged a couple hours but really excited to jump back in.

Made some serious progress this morning. First boss I ran into was a side quest sub boss, and fought the first real boss this morning. Took a handfull of tries but took down the Fae King which was my first world boss. Beating the first world opened up adventure mode to reroll past worlds and keep story progress. Helped a ton to farm for mats.

Was using the gunslinger class rifle and had to swap it out with the AK-47 which I think is the Handler starting weapon. Just not accurate enough on a gamepad to use semi auto rifles to depend on weakpoint shots. And the first boss spawned these orbs that shot at you and the rifle couldn't quite one shot them, so had to burn 2 rounds. With taking out several orbs and 10 round mag, I just couldnt do enough damage to the boss. Once I swapped and leveled it up, started cleaning house. Took down the boss much easier.

Really enjoying it so far. Already found one of the hidden classes in the game. Seems to be a whole bunch of hidden classes
Nice..

Started playing, did fine in prologue and tutorial. Got to first real mission and already died 3 times, lol.

All good though. This is what I was hoping for, a fair challenge that forces you to be smart with each encounter. I went with the hunter class. This first mission's aesthetics reminds me a bit of Bloodborne. Gunfire Games probably reads this forum and wants to get @Valhoven to hype this game for years so they indulged him.

The dialogue during battles is as cheesy and offkey as over, I love it.

Still very early on, will be working through this for a while.
