Official Nioh 2 Disc: PC & PS5 Collection launch 05 FEB 21!

Looks like the upcoming DLC is to take us to a Kyoto City and confirmed to feature new ethereal-grade gear, Spirits, and Yokai (w/ corresponding cores, of course) + new skills, onmyo, and nin with also a kind hand-to-hand WPN. I remember their nerfing bare-handed ATK back when so I'm imagining something to restore former glory in the respect, akin to, say, Japanese knuckledusters? Not sure. ?1?

That was the only mission I skipped on my first play though. No way was I beating that guy.

Decided to make a run for this build but this guy is about 150+ levels ahead of me. I tried it out and realized my stamina is nowhere near where it needs to be. I’m so used to using light armor that this has been a difficult change. Really tough to get used to. But that’s the goal. I’ve read somewhere that I’m NG+ you don’t really want to fight enemies more than just getting through the level to the boss. Is this correct @Valhoven? I still haven’t crafted a thing since area two. I need to watch some YT videos on best practices.

Might Monk Build:

Yeah, that sounds about right. To be frank, NG+ is about pursuing niche, pet projects for your char and showing off by one-shotting this AI, that or then donning painstakingly optimised kit. It's funny you mention stamina's reality check when you started seeing the allure of what alternative armour weights can offer; me to a T, brother. I got this adventurous bug after initial playthrough to build something epic around God of War Looks Down or Arrowsbane (stalwart, Dragon God). Even after noting everything down to prepare and plan (I'm old-school pen and pad), the weight change-up from my normal agility had laid before me an almost different game with familiar faces but new approaches, hazards.

Ok, that makes more sense. Working on little projects to make your character OP sounds in-line with what it’s supposed to be. It’s cool that the game opens up the option to save your builds. I’m betting a lot of hardcore fans have several saved. When I jumped to the Might Monk build I didn’t even consider the level the originator was at so I popped a book and jumped in. Now I’m realizing I need to get all the way back to Tengus Disciple Benki fight just to get a full set of his Divine gear. It is nice that leveling up seems to be quicker. I’m thinking of farming a stage in Tengus Disciple where you fight 3 revenants on a ship. Not sure the beat farming areas but it seems late game enough to rack up some good Amrita.

I remember that side mission with the fog gates on one deck, then you drop down and there's a Biwa Boku-Boku hiding, yes? Good one, especially if outfitted in Kodama bowl + Shrine blessing. Levelling as you said is fairly paced and never feels much a slog but the boss-run Calamity's Pulse is fruitful as well as the one with humanoids/NPCs, one after another like Hanzo but the name escapes me. Have you the smithing text for Monk set that Benkei drops or is that what you meant with reengaging?

Skipped this bastard, went to the next mission and I'm fighting ice nemesis
Got it and selected a mission where he is the boss again. Duck.

I'm 10 in most attributes, 15 in heart and like 55 in constitution

Yup, that’s the one. Not sure if there’s a ton of Amrita there but I died so many times yesterday that I kept building it up. Might give it a run and see if I can pull it off. Thanks for the heads up, I’ll give those a shot. Out of curiosity, do you eventually gain enough levels to pretty much run any armor set if you have enough reincarnation books available?

No smithing texts yet, I’ll have to farm him for some. Seems like it’s really random and they don’t pop up that often. Some people have 45 kills on good ol Benki before receiving it.

Blacksmith texts are certainly elusive creatures. When I was farming all texts for Master of Illusion build, I had to fight Danzo (aka Flying Kato) probably 30 times at dojo before seeing armour text but as luck would have it, had gotten Swift Hawk text earlier in the process; takeaway is these drops are a must to re-roll and freely level-sync or optimise gear, weapons, charms + it feels VIP, of course.

Make sure you are fighting whomever has your text(s) with Kodama blessings for Materials as well as equipped gear/charms tempered for Item drop rate; Luck is not needed and targets rather items otherwise that have applicable rarity (grades) which texts haven't, AFAIK. You'll get everything you need sooner or later (it's not bad looking back but sucks when in the middle of it) and Benkei is a fun fight in a garden-like, treed nook, iirc -- get some!

On levels and armours across the board, I assume so, especially if touching the 300 ceiling. My char is sitting around 230 right now and I feel free enough to reincarnate in ways x, y, z but I crucially still feel I need choose my avenues before sinking points into anything. I imagine at 300, one can get sloppier and even set-swap without reincarnating, depending, which would be awesome. The new armour rarity (and level hard cap?) dropping on 15 October is going to shake things up so we'll see what the new status quo feels like.

Thanks for the tips! I'm unfortunately walking around in gear that is piece mailed so I will need to do some grinding for a decent set before I head into the garden. I think I've captured all of the Kodama's in the area so I'll be good there. Need to take a look at my charms to see if I can find some decent ones there. Just so I'm clear, the texts allow you to level up (or forge) your armor to the level you're at in the game (I.E. I can forge divine gear)? A little confused on this "re-roll and freely level-sync" the re-roll I'm assuming is reforging? I'm still very very green when it comes to anything within the blacksmith.

Sounds about right; you probably have a better grasp on the involved systems than you're giving yourself credit for. When you forge, you effectively chance on what Toyo can make. Your order will output levelled somewhere of a displayed product range (cap is 170 but unicorn-rare); divine fragments take on a proportionality in the regard as the more mat you offer up (10 being cap, iirc), the higher to chance for divine rarity. Every order can roll wished-for inheritables/effects or not so get your gambler hat on.

Smithing gets addicting, TBH, but unlike in 1, it's relatively economical here and won't cost you an arm and leg. If you find yourself needing a rare+ ingredient, before thinking you need travel regions and hunt down x, visit your Teahouse and see if Hisahide is willing to trade you one for glory -- dudes overlook this all the time and go instead on farming safaris. You can also forge smithing materials outright, FTR, which you'll find in their own submenu, and even re-scale +N weapons (to synergise better with your stats).

Are you clanned or nomading it?

I'm actually with the Honda clan because I needed the extra defense due to my light armor. Luckily enough, I took on Benki once and snagged both his smithing text and the Stone Glaive text. I think the only thing I have left is his SplitStaff skill. So I fogred his exotic set but would really like to get into his divine. I didn't see the area to use my rare (or divine) ingredients, I only saw the use of my exotic ingredients. I was listening to a video on the way home from my GF's house and the guy running the video said you have to hit triange to trigger forging divine gear. I haven't tried that out yet, but will look into it.

I have both my Splitstaff & Glaive at level 160+1 right now. Need to learn how to buff those. I also rolled my armor set to provide a much needed Ki boost. I'm starting to learn little by little.

Congrats on Benkei texts! Correct, triangle -- and then a counter appears, which is what I was alluding to with 10 being cap re: fragments and with that, your chances of divine output being proportional. Honda too trendy though... :p @SwamiLeoni

lol I know but I needed the perks, and they’re pretty good. Might jump into something a little more Ki focused. Just finished off a Benki Divine set and reforged some thing. Also tempered out my gear to focus on Ki and magic. Now need to buff my soul cores. I feel like I’m still not doing as much attack power as I should. I’m very early NG+ and by everything I’ve read I should me mopping these guys but they’re actually tougher than I thought.

Pretty sure i'm almost done with my first NG

I just beat William, and now i'm in the final level.

looking at the log, i've put in 150+hours, did not expect it to be that much

So i just finished the game.

All the missions in dream of the samurai are done.

Like i've said previously, great game other than the fact that you can become seriously OP

Just beat the first level of the 4th area, I'm still waiting for the tonfa gun

I thought i would have been burnt out after putting 150hrs in dream of the samurai but ive been finding myself doing torii gate on dream of the strong every chance i get

New dlc weapon, fists, scale with strength, semi disappointed, I was expecting scaling with constitution

Haven't seen it yet but if unwilling to reincarnate, having Toyo remodel it is all I can say. What is WPN exactly? I remember predicting something akin to knuckledusters for pre-nerf bareknuckle DMG but was probably dead-wrong, lol.
