Official Nioh 2 Disc: PC & PS5 Collection launch 05 FEB 21!

Shibata is such a dumb boss. The window to parry his charge to be able to break his horn seems incredibly inconsistent. Either it’s really tiny or I’m doing something wrong. I get it maybe 1 out of 10 times.
He's pretty intimidating at first, TBH. I remember always being off-put by his char; seemed arrogant, high-in-helmet in a game whose (what I'd call) cautionary tale is one of avarice.

man i just realised i have to manually apply buffs to the active skills in the skill customization menu....

i'm lvl 90 and just realising this...
I had a similar awakening when I was lvl 150+ and realised I could view what's in storehouse in a single click rather than farting about all the submenus.

Has the DLC schedule been published. I got like 1/2 way through the 1st level of the DLC and I'm like why. I had to go back to way of the strong just because I can't remember what I'm doing and I'm still playing like shit. Probably best til it's all out and I can play through it all at once so I don't have to relearn the game 4 times.
I still haven't played the first DLC so I might just wait as well.

Haha damn, thanks for the heads up. I’m lvl 93 and had no idea.

Good points. He was just a really agro annoying AOE monster. So far the most difficult boss for me.

In the last 5 levels, I’ve faced Shibata, Ryomen, Kasha, Enera and Tolichiro all in a row (two missions were twilights). Brutal game man. But the Sloth + Protection + Lightening imbued Rajins Claw Glaive definitely makes it a bit better.

Took out Lady Osakabe a little quicker than I thought I would but she made me use quite a bit of Jin’s Sake and a few Sacred Brushes. You really need to be on top of your game for your burst counters so make it manageable.

That said, I have so many supplies and crafting materials going into end game. I’ve only forged 1 weapon and 1 armor set thought the entirety of my play through, and that was around area 2/3. Not only that but I have an insane amount of consumables left over because I hardly use them. Same thing happened at the end of Sekiro and my DS III play through. I had an overabundant amount of supplies left over due to not using them. As much as I love 3rd Person Action RPGs I find myself not playing them the way they’re supposed to be played. Or this just happens to everyone because they give you too much, I don’t know.

So I just finished the main game. Really fun action RPG. Tried to follow the story as best I could, but will probably watch some YT lore videos to get a better understanding. I don’t want to give away spoilers but the second to last Yokai boss was a real pain in the dark realm. Still, Shibata gave me the most fits for some reason.

I should have done a better job trying to learn to craft my gear. The game doesn’t really give you much in the way of information about that or the Soul Cores. I loved the idea of the Burst Counters and Yokai shifts, but I wish there was more with it. Overall I’d rate the game a solid 8/10.

funny, I started my Japanese lore games with GoT, but switched to Sekiro and then this. Fun times.

Did you guys ever come across a temper grid online?

Tells you which stats can be converted into which stats

I’m pretty sure it is, but not 100%. It seemed like it to me. Obviously the better the upgrade material the better the stats upgrade. I screwed up because I used all of my quality umbracites on a worthless piece of armor.

I also screwed up Soul Matching my one and only Divine Splitstaff with a higher level exotic. All it did was reset my familiarity. It was staring me in the face the whole time but didn’t even realize it. Did it late game too lol.

This is one of the things I really don't get about this game, and I didn't get it on the first one either

which part?

I’ve got I think 3 books of reincarnation that I might use to buff my Splitstaff. My Glaive feels OP and mashing square using an active skill at the end gets a little old. I’ve got an insane amount of smithing materials I want to use for my next build but have no idea where or how to use them. My end game stats are attached.

Lmao and I have absolutely no idea what 99% of that stuff is used for. Seems to me like an over abundance of gear and once you might use it to level up your armor, 3-4 more levels and you can have a more powerful set. It’s just so confusing to me. What was also confusing was that it automatically put me back to NG+ instead of the first DLC. I don’t know how to get there. Also, don’t even get me start on Soul Cores...so confusing.

The 1st level of the 5th area (twilight) is a definite clin d'oeil to Demon's Soul's first level.

The bridge with single barricades leading to a big castle is almost identical to the one in the 1st level of Demon's Soul

Duck the warrior message on world 3, that guy doesn't stagger and has unlimited magic

My only complaint at this point, and it was the same with Nioh 1, is that the game lets you become OP, as opposed to From Soft games where, aside from pure cheesing, you can't really melt a boss. You need to know them and learn the fights.

I'm level 110 and i'm melting everything with shuriken and kunai's. I destroyed Shibata Katsuie this way.

Skipped this bastard, went to the next mission and I'm fighting ice nemesis

That was the only mission I skipped on my first play though. No way was I beating that guy.

Decided to make a run for this build but this guy is about 150+ levels ahead of me. I tried it out and realized my stamina is nowhere near where it needs to be. I’m so used to using light armor that this has been a difficult change. Really tough to get used to. But that’s the goal. I’ve read somewhere that I’m NG+ you don’t really want to fight enemies more than just getting through the level to the boss. Is this correct @Valhoven? I still haven’t crafted a thing since area two. I need to watch some YT videos on best practices.

Might Monk Build:
