Multiplat Official Metal Gear Solid Delta Discussion

Just watched this in maximum resolution, and this is my issue -

They're giving us more realistic graphics but maintaining the lack of realism.

The RE4make updated gave us more realistic graphics and at least tried to update the world it took place in to accommodate expected realism with the original RE4's camp.... with mixed results.

I'd say MGS3 & RE4... Two of the absolute best PS2 games of the greatest console generation... Are two sides of the same coin in terms of campiness.

In other words, the updated graphics doesn't feel right with the world, story, and characters of the original MGS3.

I'm still going to buy and play it, but I now have the expectation that it'll be like the RE4make. It'll be fun to play once, maybe twice, but it won't have the same significance in gaming legacy the original MGS3 did.

it's not supposed to feel realistic, it's Kojima's game in the end, with all of his weird ideas

I understand why they didn't change much of it

Picked this up. Will be my umpteenth time attempting to get into this franchise. Hopefully I'll get some time to play in the next few days.

Then they should have had a higher emphasis on the performance, rather than photorealistic graphics.

I enjoyed playing this again. That said, the gameplay definitely felt dated at times. I wish that they did a little more to spice that up, but overall it was fun to go back to it.

Anyone playing on PC? I'm not hearing good things about tje performance.

I know one guy who played on PS5 and said the performance is great and he doesn't understand what anyone is talking about. I like DF but I think sometimes their performance talk can get a little to in the weeds to the point it's not even relevant if your just an average gamer who likes to play games. I passed on it for now since there is so much other stuff to play so might as well just wait a bit but after hearing that I'm not as worried about it anymore.

Did Peace Walker from HD Collection or MGS V Phantom Pain both swing and miss? Those are pretty fun and have sorta RPG element with the capturing enemy soldier specialists to develop better weapons.

Has Konami made any comment about releasing any updates fixing performance issues?

The fact certain areas of the game on PS5Pro have a lower FPS than the base PS5 means there's a few aspects that need to be fixed.

And PC being locked to 60FPS is inexcusable.

They've acknowledged it and said fixes are coming.

There's mod to unlock the frame rate.
You can also replace Snake with CJ from GTA San Andreas.

Bought it and have been playing it on SeriesX, and I can testify that whatever slowdown there is in certain areas is barely noticeable.

Many gamers don't remember that on PS2 MGS3 didn't have a smooth frame rate throughout. Not an excuse for the less-than-perfect performance of a 20 year old game with a visual upgrade... but just a little historical context.

I've played about eight hours and taking my time, and so far I just have two complaints.

One, I can't give the numerous reasons why, but the gameplay feels much less... fluid. I have to actively think and remember what buttons do what in which circumstances. I don't think I had this problem in the original MGS3, but perhaps I'm remembering it with rose-tinted glasses.

Two... Ocelot & the bee-boss... WAY too easy. Beat them both in my first attempt, and with the bee-boss I walked into it with half health.
By the way, I'm playing on Hard.

If the controls are relatively the same, then yeah, it's a bit clunky and quite a departure from the traditional setup we've become accustomed to. I think even the shooting was bit...different. Like having to zoom in with a bumper, but using a face button to shoot. I think the triggers were your quick menus for items and weapons.

The whole series, minus MGSV, is a bit menu heavy and clunky in the control department.

Yeah, they were always pushovers. There's also a few gimmick fights with other bosses, where you just have to figure out a trick, and you're good to go. I think the only real great boss fight in the game is with the lightning dude near the the end.

Im struggling woth the controls as well. They're so unintuitive by today's standards.

Saw this a few days ago and laughed at it.

And I checked to see if it'd work in Delta, and yup, worked on the first try. No damage taken.
