Multiplat Official Metal Gear Solid Delta Discussion

Dinosaurs? I never played peace walker or head about that part. Might actually pick up the HD collection as I just took my ps3 down from the roof.

In relation to this remake I will buy it but will definitely play through the original first
I played Peace Walker on the PSP, it was really fun, despite the the controls not being optimal. They made it work though.

It was made to be played in smaller chunks/on the go from what I recall, so I'm not sure how that would translate to a normal console release. What do some of you vets have to say?
I imagine the controls were improved too?

Is the MGS 3 remake a multiplat/PC release as well? I never could get into it on the PS2, despite loving MGS 1/2. The jungle always looked like Pea Soup. I'm pretty sure I had it on a portable, maybe 3DS XL, but I never came close to finishing it.

I felt PS3 HD Collection Peace Walker's controls were as good as MGS3/4. I think the game was sort of linear where you could back track maybe. I think there were spots on the map that had spinning hovering blueprints to find to develop weapons and you could either fight armored vehicles or Fulton them.

Seems like all the talk of performance issues doesn’t really affect the experience much. Can’t wait to jump back into my favorite MGS game.

Seems like a true remake, that didn't fuck with anything except the graphics and tightening up some animations.

If that's all it is, I'm down. One of the greatest games ever.

Just watched this in maximum resolution, and this is my issue -

They're giving us more realistic graphics but maintaining the lack of realism.

The RE4make updated gave us more realistic graphics and at least tried to update the world it took place in to accommodate expected realism with the original RE4's camp.... with mixed results.

I'd say MGS3 & RE4... Two of the absolute best PS2 games of the greatest console generation... Are two sides of the same coin in terms of campiness.

In other words, the updated graphics doesn't feel right with the world, story, and characters of the original MGS3.

I'm still going to buy and play it, but I now have the expectation that it'll be like the RE4make. It'll be fun to play once, maybe twice, but it won't have the same significance in gaming legacy the original MGS3 did.

I'm sure it'll be good but the only MGS game that really needs a remake is 1.
It was already put through the barn burnder of remakes albeit in a previous gen.

I'm very meh about these remakes. The remake for MGS3 on PS3 was fine.

For those considering buying it for PC or PS5, you may want to see this.

Major performance issues.

A proper remake, not BS like the Twin Snakes.

How is this or the original a fan favorite when it's mostly a bunch of cutscenes with some gameplay sprinkled in? I never got in to the MG series and had no clue this was the type of games they are.

I only played PS3 HD collection and had no complaints about Snake Eater. Controls I remember were good. If the remake was only graphics and not gameplay, I'll pass.

Metal Gear is about stealth infiltration, some boss battles, some battles against armored vehicles, the later ones included kidnapping enemies to join your behind the scenes staff to develop and produce better weapons and armor and send off for virtual battles to gain resources needed for ammo and better weapons etc. What was kinda shit was MGSV if you sortied with certain high tier weapons, each time consumed a ton of resources and if you ran out of resources, no ammo or had to use lesser weapons.

The latest, MGSV, was open field and you could sort of choose which map to play by running or being dropped there and some maps had key personnel to kidnap who had specialty skills needed to develop certain weapons etc. At the end, I replayed certain maps repeatedly just to accumulate resources needed to make the better sniper rifles or to steal armored vehicles used in virtual battles also to get more resources.

Character work, imo. I prefer MGS1 because I loved that story and the score that went with it. MGS3 was pretty damn good because of the same thing. People LOVE The Boss because Lori Alan did a great job with the character.

Both had pretty great gameplay.

Because both the cutscenes and gameplay are excellent. But yeah, if long cutscenes are a turn off, all but MGS V will basically be poison to you, LOL. This game has some whoppers, but it's nothing compared to MGS4, that had legit 1-2 hour long cutscenes.

If they remade MGS1 they would have to redo all the voice acting because it was off the charts campy. I remember parts like Ocelot getting his hand chopped off: "What?!?! MY HAND!"

I think all the games have some quirks in that regard, but for the most part MGS1's voice acting still holds up incredibly well. It's not Resident Evil or Shenmue or anything. Still extremely high quality, that pretty much set the standard for voice acting in videogames.

If interested, play Ground Zeroes (very short, good barometer to see how you get on) and then Phantom Pain, which are akin to MGSV parts I and II. Uniquely cool, the whole thing. It’s Hideo’s swansong output before Konami departure. They’re bundled nowadays, I think, and probably dirt-cheap.

I don't remember MGS3 cutscenes being uninterrupted 1.5 hrs, but do remember MGS4 cutscene when I needed to turn off the PS3 and go somewhere.

Phantom pain was so much fun
