Multiplat Official Call of Duty: Vanguard/Warzone Disc. **S5 is LIVE

Got it today. Ready for shipment!
Sledge rotated in a 24/7 Blitz moshpit for Shipment/Haus all last weekend(!) but you're in time for another triple XP event fired up just last night. Such a fun Duty game. You have roughly a week and change remaining to earn limited-time, preseason BP goodies so rank up and get some before season play officially kicks off with Warzone tie-in.

Sweet trying it out later

Me too. Had an unexpected afternoon off from my boss, gonna get high and grind that M1928? SMG and the DP-27 LMG. Enjoying both. The Automaton and MP 40 is the go to when I'm getting my arse kicked. Hope you enjoy the game dude.

The DP27 is a guilty pleasure of mine too and not having to belt-feed is a cool change of pace for the class; handles like a dream albeit looks the part of a crossbow with the pan magazine, IMO.

The MP 40 is unquestionably the working man's SMG, getting results no matter the plan or problem and much like its RL counterpart – the bread and butter of Nazi infantry, I've read. I can't use it because I like to shake up meta so my affaire has been rather with the PPSh-41. I have a CQC build around the PPSh with decoy frags that has me clearing rooms like a professional mover, especially on map Eagle's Nest. Woo! If I see Guard Dogs deployed though, I run – I know you'll feel me on that. The M1928 was my favourite in-class before that.

I tried to max the Automaton during the last XP event but I don't walk away from firefights I should with it, IMO, so I always shy away from committing. For mid, I went back to my AS44 (or DP27), but I'm still learning some of the ARs in this and what their personalities are, for example, the Volk has been really, really fun but doesn't trade well (for me) and right now I'm applying everything I know from MW's FR 5.56 to Vanguard's Itra AR without having explicitly danced with it yet. I primarily play MMRs and snipers so it'll take me a while to work through all the assault options in this. I'm excited for the Vanguard store to launch so I can see what vanities await my loadouts.

My DP-27 is still a bit weak. Not fully sold on that yet, I prefer the MG-42 but that’s maxed out and the only weapon I’ve put a good bit of time into since maxing it. And I do like the pan mag yeah, reload time is a bitch (nothing new) but a nice change.

I thought that about the Automaton but it reminds me of the XM-4. I couldn’t buy a kill with that thing until it was past level 40 odd. Similar but not as bad with the Automaton but that seems to really become viable passing level 60 or so. I am highly recommending that, it’s a killer when maxed. Personal preference of course, my mate spent the whole of last season with an M13 and it’s shit!

I’ve had fun with the Volk too but not spent too much time with that yet. Or the AS44 and Itra, definitely fancy the Itra, the AUG and M16 were killers for a while so I’m hoping it’s similar.

Yeah I’m enjoying just trying it all out. Not taking it too seriously. As discussed I’m not a COD veteran at all but the guns feel fun to play with to me.

I’ve found a way (off the internet, not my doing) to level up weapons a little quicker. IF you’re prepared to suck the fun out of the game and be bored. Does work though.

Is it a custom-match exploit or something else? I prefer levelling the traditional way but would be interested to know.

What's the Face Off mode from CW exactly? Something streak-related?

Zombies. Loads up and there is always a little pocket to the left, run over and melee them all. Leg it over to harvest and start that, don’t do the harvest challenge just kill zombies, melee is the fastest method it’s all about flying through everything as quick as possible. As soon as you get to 35 kills, leave the game. Screen pops up, enter solos again.

It’s boring as hell really but if you do that for a couple of hours it’ll add a ton of weapon xp. Not sure of the science behind it buts it’s a quick way to level up.

To be honest this is more for players of my level, if you’re good enough there are ways in multiplayer that equal if not exceed the bang for buck value. For noobs or crap players an option, or anyone picking a gun for the first time to level up, do that for an hour and rocket up, then jump to multiplayer maybe?

Gotcha. Interesting – and sounds like there's a diminishing return parameter for kill XP in place for Zombies. I'm Prestige 2 right now. What rank are you?

Exactly that, get up to the point of diminishing returns and quit and rinse and repeat.

Prestige 3, not particularly chasing anything like that but always keep my eye on the challenges and try to knock a few off here and there as I go. My mates often ask how I level up so quickly. A - I’m single, B - I work in finance, cost and time efficient processes give me a tummy banana ;)

Getting yours, brother. I'm coming for you now...

I loved the last two COD games and have been trying to like this one, but everything just seems like a major grind, and doesn't feel fun playing it so far.

Who do you run with? I've stuck with(and still plan to for the foreseeable future) "basic ass" Stitch.

There's something about the look that is cool, and appeals to me. My backup from COD 2019 is the Polish Special Forces skin. Which I still always use the emblem/calling card from that pack.

For WZ specifically, I've been stubborn about sticking with my little street bird with the word, Azure; still use my OG Brawler vanity too. Man biz.

I main however a custom-modded Freyja, which is a Karabiner 98k variant (real looker) while off-handing the Acid Spit, a FAL variant I'm partial to for dry magazine scenario or CQ engagement. My emblems are usually hard-to-get (like knife, streak) achievements for the pride of it but I've a soft spot for anything artsy or seldom seen. I strongly dislike daffy, cartoonish whatnot in Duty so avoid the kind, be it operator or kit.

I remember your GROM operator from amongst Mil-Sim bundles along with the left-facing eagle regalia, right?

How is Vanguard? How does it stack up against Modern Warfare and Cold War?
I think it's great and everyone I know actually playing is having a blast.

Play leans MW, not CW, and has match pacing parameters so you can actively choose in Vanguard if you want to play tactical (slow, methodical, tense), assault (hybrid), or blitz (objective push, push, push, FU). Operators are not (yet?) assigned factions, which is something I sorely miss from MW with every match broken up as Coalition Ops (US/UK SF) versus Allegiance (Russian SF/African for-profit terror units) and vice versa.

The MP maps are the funnest I've played in years and prefer them over MW's lot. Lethals also drop upon death if you've yet to throw, plant which I love (versus rather cancelling upon respawn). I've noticed when my clan and I band for play, we've seen some lobby persistence which has been nice; if you solo, lobby disband is still a thing not unlike MW and CW. Like CW, every WPN modification has in-menu stat values so you're not ball-parking as in MW with gains/losses as you tweak builds and experiment.

Campaign is great – another cinematic Duty and headphone-must experience; am almost 10h in on Veteran (PS5) but about to finish as the plot is seeing resolution and that's without any trophy-hunting. Zombies is in beta but the one mode available (Der Anfang) is fun despite not being a big Zombie cat myself. I match in seconds with players to deploy across the board.

If you jump in now, you can still buy the traditional Endowment (C.O.D.E) bundle for 10€, proceeds from which go directly to US/UK veteran job placement after service. Preseason play will last for another some 8 days.
